Please Help! Tried plot resetting for over an hour!

I?m trying to get a villager into a spot close to a cliff I know you can have villagers one space away from a cliff, but i tried for over an hour last night and he just would move there! I?m worried it?s because of a corner space. The plot looks like this

T=tree
x=path marker/empty space
H=house plot
C=cliff (so the places marked C cannot have patterns placed on them and are passed the edge of the cliff)

should my villager be able to plot here, or do i need to find a new spot?
