Please help - stuck in a loop

Hi All,

Hoping someone can help as I’m stuck in a loop and it’s driving me mad!

Have my first visitor in the campsite butoo option to move in. Tom Nook not offering any suggestions on what to do and can’t get an island evaluation from Isabelle?!

Any ideas on what to try as can’t move forward?

Have you tried talking to them repeatedly as they will usually mention wanting to live on your island and you will have the option of asking them to move in?

thanks for such a quick response. I’ve talked to the visitor 30+ times and never get the option to ask. It’s just stuck in a loop of the same 4-5 bits of conversation they have.

thought the island might not be good enough but then can’t get any insight on what to do to make it better from Tom or Isabelle.

Not sure what else to try as don’t want to have to start again!!

Hmmm that's strange. I've never experienced that. You could also save then log out then in again. They will still be there and you can start the convo again

Do you have enough plots for the villager ? As far as i know the option doesn't come up if you don't have an empty plot- I don't think it's related to how good your island is.

You can only have a max of 10 villagers.

If you have less than 10, you must have an open plot for them to move into. You do this by talking to Tom Nook.

I believe you cant have someone already moving in today/tomorrow. I also believe you cant have anyone moving out today/tomorrow.

Do you have enough plots for the villager ? As far as i know the option doesn't come up if you don't have an empty plot- I don't think it's related to how good your island is.

Ah! I don’t have any empty plots but when I go to Tom Nook the only option is to talk about my home or customization. Is that the only way to normally get a new plot?

what should I do comes up but when selected he says I can’t really give you any more advice

Damn thats weird. Have you got the making the plots before?

I can't think of anything else other than maybe you need to upgrade your house to a certain point if you haven't already? Or open the museum?

Maybe like what QueenOpossum said, make sure none of your current villagers are in boxes

Or it could be a time thing where you need to wait a certain number of days? like have the resident services building open for a set time?
but i do remember pretty much inviting the first villager that visited my campsite... so maybe not

I remember inviting Fang when he was my first campsite visitor aswell and it was just like the normal process

Thanks both, have a two story house so don’t think that is it and have had the resident services buildingfor months. Definitely had the option before as have a few residents from people invited from other islands.

Not quite sure what you mean by a resident in a box though?

feels like I may be stuck in a glitch and need to wait for an update or start again from scratch

Resident in a box means someone moving in or moving out and they are still unpacking

If it is your first visitor, are you playing as the resident rep? Only the resident rep will get the option to invite the first visitor and be able to advance the story.

Yes, the first player is the island rep and he/she control the island. You have to switch to that account to do infrastructure change. But you can contribute bells when building bridge/incline.
