Please be careful when System Transferring!

Last night, to my absolute dismay, I found that my older 3DS XL had been scratched somehow (I'm not sure whether this was my fault- and I'm not fishing for sympathy these things happen and I accept that). So, I figured as I recently purchased the New 3DS XL Happy Home Designer edition from my sister, I'd do a system transfer.

Now, it's rather hard to take out the MicroSD reader and I have absolutely no way of reading it on my computer, so I figured a system transfer would be okay, because I've seen successful stories and made sure to select that the safe files move over.

But apparently something went wrong, and I now have lost everything in Maemi- probably my fault for being too hasty, but it still isn't a good thing to happen...

I'm not asking for sympathy, as I said before- I'm just hoping everyone is careful when system transferring.

I'll probably spend a few days working on getting a Map // Villagers I truly love.

Oh, no! I know you're not asking for sympathy, but you're getting it from me anyway. I'm so sorry to hear that happened to you! I'm glad you are starting a new version of your town. I have never attempted a system transfer (and don't have a digital copy at all), so I don't know what's involved. Do you have any idea where things went wrong?

I think I just rushed into it without looking into it- I honestly thought that's exactly what you should do, although apparently I was wrong ;n; I won't be restarting until June, because am going to wait until my Boyfriend is visiting so we can restart again together- and I am going to put my focus into my Theme Towns! c:

Sorry about your town. I've read posts where everything transferred except ACNL. Other got the game to transfer but didn't have room to Download Happy Home Designer after the transfer.

Read that the 3DS SD card isn't equal to the NEW 3DS micro card. It's say 4 on it but the micro card is smaller. The NEW 3DS should have come with a larger Micro card to begin with.
When I bought my NEW 3DS I bought a large micro card. I never did the transfer because I still play my other 3DS.
I just bought an Eshop card and bought another digital copy for my NEW 3DS.

I'm still sad about it, had only had the town around 2 months though so thankfully it was no where near completion- I think I would have had it harder for me if it had been.

Man I'm so sorry that happened ):
That's why I've been hesitant to transfer anything just in case I mess it up.
I'm not one that thinks it's fun to mess things up.
And normally when I do things technological in nature, I mess them up the first couple of times I try it.

Maybe it's a blessing in disguise, though.
You get to start over and re-experience the fun of starting a new town.
And you'll be doing it with your partner this time.

I did a general system transfer, selected everything as I thought I should, but apparently something happened and I could redownload the digital game however the save was gone.

I'm not sure if this was because it was a new 3ds, or something, honestly, I should have looked into it more ;u;

Thank you for the heads up. I have never done a system transfer but it seems to be more complicated than it looks. Sorry to hear you lost your town in the process though.
