Hey Gang,

To start I just wanted to say if this is in the wrong place please feel free to move it as I'm not always 100% sure!

So my question is, I have a lightly used 3DS XL that is sat collecting dust and is obviously a lot more portable than the Switch 2 should I want to take it to work / play on the bus etc. I'm tempted to fire up a New Leaf game along side my New Horizons game......Does anyone else do this? Do you find you end up neglecting one more than the other?

There's loads I miss about New Leaf, for me it was the perfect AC but I worry going back now after all these years (stopped playing before they even did the campsite update) Id worry that with all the quality of life improvements New Horizons has brought that New Leaf may feel somewhat inferior?

Am I best off living with that nostalgic feeling around New Leaf or should I fire up a new save and try and give both games some love?

I'd love to hear peoples opinions :)

hi! i'm currently playing 3 different animal crossings, so it's definitely doable! i've been playing wild world pretty consistently (with occasional 1-2 month long breaks in between) for a little over a year now, i recently started a new town on new leaf, and i've returned to my new horizons island as well!

as someone who personally works 2 jobs, i'd say it's more manageable than you think. you don't have to play both games every single day as long as you're sure a villager won't move out, but iirc the moving out requests don't happen that often in new leaf! and you don't have to worry about someone moving out unprompted in new horizons, so i think you should be fine! (-:

I gotta play one at a time, it is too much I feel like ill explode. One day ill move out of my town to the big city

i really think it depends on how much free time you have.

my first AC was ACNH. while i’ve only lightly played NL and also from indulging in the community, it’s clear that ACNH stands out from the rest, not in a “it’s better than the others” way but in that the play styles are different. older AC games focus more on core gameplay mechanics while ACNH has most of its focus on the decorating and designing, which i’ve found takes many hours.

if you’re burnt out on ACNH i think one of the older games would be worth a try. i also think if you have the extra time it doesn’t hurt to fill it, its just that it’s so easy for ACNH to consume hours of your free time + the update coming in jan

I still play Wild World and New Leaf and just got a refurbished Wii solely for City Folk and Population Growing. I still enjoy each of them although I think it took years to get to where I could enjoy the old AC games. I've played a bunch of NH and still have it, but I never got into it as much as I did New Leaf. I agree that NL is the perfect AC game and it's always been my favorite. I love NH and the features it has but it just doesn't feel like animal crossing to me.

I play New Leaf alongside New Horizons. I wouldn't say I neglect either since both are very different games with different experiences, I have to be in the mood for either one - so when I am that's when I decide to play that game

If anything playing New Leaf after Horizons has led me to a greater appreciation of the game, not frustration. It's really not so big a difference that anything would bother you imo
