Playing games for all the wrong reasons

On the contrary! I play videogames to further my creativity in the real world.

It's interesting to talk to people who have fallen out of reality, it's like talking to a living NPC in a game. lol
As unhealthy as it is, if it makes them happy I'm not going to tell them otherwise.

I get what this article is trying to say, and I do believe it happens all the time. Games like Call of Duty (Or any game with a KDR really) you'll go online and expect a group of players having fun, having a good time playing the game. But to get mad at a game, to get mad at something that doesn't even matter when you put it down, this article nails it.

I'm sure we've all been there, getting mad over something silly like getting sniped in CoD. But to have the patience, to know that you're playing a game is something you have to realize by yourself. But only then, will you be able to enjoy a game for what it is. Luckily, I've found my patience for a couple years now.

(Reading this over again, they really didn't talk about this, but Call of Duty can be used as a good example)

Gosh that entire thing looked like my old weekly "YOU-NEED-TO-GET-A-LIFE" rants from my mother.

I minorly agree, games are like this. But if we go back to an old arguement we had being the whole "DO VIDEO GAMES INFLUENCE KIDS" you might remember I said it all counts on WHO plays the game. If it's someone who has a regular social life and only uses the console as a relaxation tool then it's fine, whereas someone who CONSTANTLY is on it will likely suffer. I am probably in the later. Just don't let my mom know that -.-

I think you guys are missing what it's trying to say. It's not condemning playing video games or saying that you need to cut back on playing them. However, it's saying that when you use it to escape reality, it's not healthy. You HAVE to face reality.

Exactly. My bubble is pink and filled with stickers and unicorns. There's no harm in escaping reality once in a while, heh, heh.

Not if I stay in my bubble. Everything is fine in the bubble.

Nice article. I must say that I love AC so much because it's helping me escaping from my problems. It's something that makes me feel good and let me express and live my creativity. A world without problems or fears and a lot of friends...

I do use video games to escape reality. That's partially the reason I don't play game like Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto, because I want to escape from the harsher parts of reality. I know that there are times where you have to face your problems, but I get anxious really easily. When I need to face problems head on, sometimes I need to play something to calm me down. That's why Pokemon, Animal Crossing, and Harvest Moon are my three favorite series. I can just turn them on and clear my head so that life doesn't seem so scary.
I have been at a point to where I played too often to escape reality, and I admit it isn't healthy if you don't regulate it. All you have to do is find the line between unwinding, and getting sucked in.
