In my main town I've only TT ahead one day. Did this for holidays. Can play the holiday with in game and than enjoy the holiday with my family. My town is about 4 hours behind so I can still play the events and have the store opened.
In my other town I did TT a lot because it was a harvest town. It's now a real town but set in December right now.
Wasn't interested in having two town stuck on the same day. Two Halloweens or Harvest Festival would be too much.
I TT but very rarely and only a day forward maximum. Its scary to lose villagers and I'm not really good at it either so I just follow the current date and time on my game.
I think a lot of people don't TT for this reason. I do it verrrry slowly and carefully too. I talk to all my villagers every single day, make sure no one's leaving, sometimes even talking many times to some of them to give them a chance to let me know if someone's leaving. If it's been 3 or 4 days since I last heard someone's leaving, I get anxious about TT-ing to the next day. I think accidents happen when people jump many days at a time, or don't take the time to talk to all their villagers everyday. Also, if you TT to different times within the same day, nothing bad can happen, no one will leave, nothing gets destroyed. It can be useful for store hours, or getting things in the mail. Not trying to talk anyone into it...just pointing out some things some newer time travelers may not know.
In my first town I never TT'd. My boyfriend liked to play a lot (we only had one 3DS so he just had a second character) and he didn't want me to TT because he didn't want to miss much. I was also really scared of messing my town up.
♥ i have been doing close to no tting ever since i joined the tbt. ; u;
i just haven't really felt the need to do it as much.
i still do sometimes.
like, when i need to get a villager out to replace it with a dreamie.
or if i don't have world of warcraft time i tt a lot... because i run out of things to do on that day and need to do something.
boredness and dremies are really the only reason i tt anymore.
I only TT in my cycling town. My other games run on real time unless I miss an event or a villager goes to bed that I am trading. It's really easy for me not to TT if I don't need to since I have a multitude of other things to do in real life and in my other games that would prevent me from sitting around and playing animal crossing new leaf literally all day. Sometimes when I do get a quiet lazy day, I read the game to my daughter like a story book or let her play with the emoticons.
But on the game I DO TT on, I'm always only doing it for a trade or to grab an item I need from the mailbox or something.
It depends on your definition of TTing.
In my main game, I don't go past the day, but sometimes I play in the evening and I don't like not being able to see clearly in the game so I go back to noon. I used to TT in that one, but since I'd like to keep most of my villagers, I decided I'd better not.
In my second, I go day by day if I have a lot of time. That town is still starting up and I have no patience.
I only time travel backwards a couple of hours if I was unable to check the shops before they closed that day. Other than that, I don't time travel. The game moves really slow, but I feel like time travelling defeats the purpose of the game. It's supposed to be like slow day-to-day life, right?
I used to never time travel until I came here. I also never knew about dreamies. I just hoped to get a villager I liked to move in. I used to just go with the flow of things. But I think that's why I got bored of it the first time around. This site totally changed the way I played. But I hardly time travel now because I have all my dreamies<3
I used to TT by days before because I wanted to catch up on a few things. So when I realized I messed up I stopped, reset and I don't TT anymore cause I've learned my lesson xD I only TT by hours when I really need to. I decided to enjoy a long day by day life in my town :3 and I wanna play long term so I can enjoy it more~
I've decided I wanted the connection to day to day real life and so I made a decision before I got it that no matter what the provocation, I would not time travel. It helps that I fear messing up my town and villagers greatly. I really enjoy how the shops change day to day and the seasons slowly bring about changes in wildlife, scenery and dialogue. The fact this game runs in real time was a major selling point for me.
If I ever do break down and time travel, it will probably be for holidays. I've decided to never let my 3DS and severely intellectually handicapped and Autistic brother be in the same house because I can see he would be fascinated by it's smooth feel and adjustable nature, and end up breaking it. Then I'd be furious and he would be miserable as he honestly wouldn't know why I was so angry with him. So I never got to experience Easter and I won't be experiencing Toy Day or New Years either.
I don't because I want my town and time in it to feel genuine, i want to have AC memories congruent to time in real life, it feels like a diary when i take pictures too, and i want those to be genuine
i want to experience winter when it's winter in real life etc.
I don't TT because I feel like I would get bored of the game too quickly that way. It's also nice to actually look forward to some of the events in game instead of just rushing to play through them all. I also like when the seasons in game match up to real life.
However, I have had to make an exception to this rule to catch a damn tarantula. I've not been able to catch one so far (screwed up catching my first one, and saw another that just disappeared behind a tree). I've been finding plenty of scorpions but never any tarantulas. I stayed up until around 2:30am trying to catch one last night - cut down most of my trees to help but still never found one. Therefore I will keep TTing back to yesterday evening until I catch one. I really don't want to miss out when I am so close to completing my bug encyclopedia!
