Dunno if anyone knows about this, but it just happened and kind of surprised me. By now most people know there are two "hidden" emotions in the game that cannot be learned from Shrunk. These are Surprise (ex-emotion from WW and CF, also known as the "villager ping") and Smirk (which is similar to Mischief). Well there is a way to have your character perform the Smirk emotion, although it will only be a once-in-that-instance type thing.
I ran into my Cranky and Uchi villagers (Roscoe and Charlise) as they were talking. The conversation was about how Charlise always seemed to approach Roscoe with a scary face, so he decided to show her how to smile at others. The first time, he smiled and she responded by using the Smirk emotion. Then they did it again and she used the Mischief emotion. Then Roscoe turned to me and asked if I could show her the proper way to smile at others. I was then given three options: Smile (Happy), Smile (Smirk), and Smile (Evil Grin). Selecting the second option allowed me to use the Smirk emotion!
Here are some screenshots:
It was dark so it might be hard to see, but it happened. Which begs the question: why was it not added to the list of emotions?
Also sorry for completely random thread, I just wanted to talk about what I found. c:
