Platformers

Remember back when platformers and adventure games were the main craze and there was a new one like every week? I somewhat miss that, FPS is obviously the main fad now, but I can only wonder what the next big gaming fad will be.

Platformers forever. I hate FPS games. That's why I still play games like Mario and Sonic. Although they've gone 3D, they're still platformers. More action/adventure, but platformers nonetheless.

For some reason i suspect racing games, or possibly real-time strategy.

For some reason i suspect racing games, or possibly real-time strategy.

Maybe RPGs will get the spotlight they've always been up and down behind the main attraction.

I will never get tired of platformers, they are the very best of video games. I wish there were more made nowadays, but there are at least a few great ones every generation. SNES period was the king of platforming however.

That's precisely the reason I don't think they will get the spotlight. RPGs have always been just hovering in the background between the games nobody cares about and the main attraction. I don't see that changing.

I think it will be a genre that nobody expects. One game is going to jump out and surprise everyone, then a load of other people will copy that game and then that'll be that

Rawr. C&C Tiberium Wars is a total ripoff of Starcraft T_T
Starcraft + Warcraft are my favorite RTS.

Oh and btw, did I mention to you that I play WoW now? I thought of mentioning it to you, figuring that you play that game quite a bit everyday on Steam T_T

*sigh* There's NOTHING wrong with casual games.

1. They are made for non gamers. There's the biggest problem.
2. It would be fine if there was only a few of them, but if they one day become the vast majority of games, then gamers would just be getting a big kick in the balls. Gamers come first. Non gamers come last.

And I too missed the days of "The only genre I want to play are platformers!"
