Placing public works projects problems

Every time I try to place a streetlamp or some project something is always "in the way." Isabelle always says "from here, you need to be two spaces back..." yadda yadda yadda. Although she says this, there is CLEARLY enough space on all sides of my project because I counted. Does anyone else have this problem? It is driving me nuts.

Yeah, it's very annoying! I was trying to place a bridge and apparently it was too close to a villagers house (it wasn't) then the river was too wide, so that was that for my bridge ha.

Yes it happens to me. I walk around the area and ask again. Sometimes if you just move slightly she will accept the spot. Sometimes no matter how much you shift around, she says no. Even when there is clearly enough room.

some proyects require spaces they dont use, so plan your spot a few tiles back and go testing. For example you can place benches in your road, it will place itself just outside it because it asks for spaces it doesn't use.
