I'm gonna be able to get a second copy of NL soon. My biggest reason is that I just have too many dreamies I love to fit them all into one town, but to keep myself fully invested in both towns, I want to have a theme for my new one. I'm wondering how other people with themed towns pick their themes?

I go for themes that interest me. I have 6 towns. I always wanted to live on a farm. I love Disney, Christmas, Retro cartoons, honey bees, etc. My newest town is 4th of July themed. It's one of my favorite Holidays, and I love the colors red, white and blue together.

Have fun with your new town. :)

I went for my favorite seasons. My main town, Harvest is after fall. Which I love the aesthetics and weather and everything about it. My secondary town, Frost is winter. I love snowfalls and the beautiful music that comes in the game. I also would love to eventually travel to Antarctica or any other region where it's just cold all the time. So it was very easy to choose my villagers there.

Hot damn, that's a lot of towns. I'm a bit too late in the game to suddenly have a theme, but if I eer do get a second copy, I'd do a fall town, cause I love Fall.

wow! that is a lot of towns! hats off to you in maintaining them!

I love winter and would do a winter themed town someday.... work in progress.

But yeah, I tend to pick something that I like. Maybe a specific colour pattern? only specific animals? only a season?

If you pick something that you like, and not because it's convenient, you'll get more satisfaction in creating and finishing the town. I'm sure you felt that from your first town.

Hadn't thought of doing a theme around a season - good idea.
Also have several towns, afraid I've not put much thought into them: some are just themed on colour - blue & white has worked well as there are several house fronts that work and plenty of flowers.
One town I based around its native fruit (so I had to reset a lot of times to get a reasonable layout plus that particular fruit). The fruit is the orange and I'm particularly pleased with it as it looks very rich & vibrant - deep coloured paths & the deeper coloured flowers. Another town is woody/zen.

TheGreatBrain has some marvellous ideas - pick what interests you and work a town around it.

My town is a small village type of thing. It's supposed to be woodsy and have a homey town feel. :) Maybe choose a simple theme and work your way up? Like for example, start off small with an idea, and then as you progress add more and fill out your town. I don't know if that makes much sense, but I hope it helps.

I made a thread call the town idea book
It helps of thinking of a nice theme for your town
