Phineas won't give me my gold catalog badge? (at 85.35%)

I recently wrote over 200 letters and completed over 80% of my catalog (85.35%). I have the umbrellas, stationary, and music complete. I have Fortune Cookie items, shoes, flooring and wall paper all under 5 left to go with the other categories ranging from 17 (gyroids) to 156 (furniture items, including the FC items).

Is there specific criteria on days he will appear? He did appear to give me a bronze medal badge but nothing else and I have been keeping very close track on everything (letters I could possibly be off by a few but I had maybe 90ish to go and I wrote 102 to be safe last night). I noticed other people are sometimes having trouble getting him to give the gold catalog badge too. Should I try TTing a day to see if that will help at all?

edit: got my letter badge but still no catalog. he came after i did some turnip trading and i was given my bronze/silver badge along with the letter. still no catalog..i'm seriously wondering if it's closer to 90% and the game just says 80% so it looks less specific

I've read that Phineas only comes when it's sunny, with a clear sky (so no clouds, or a little). Maybe that's why he doesn't come in your town for the moment. Or maybe there's something else. I'm not yet at gold badges, so I don't know if they're really difficult to get when you're done with the tasks.

Okay i was turnip trading and got my silver badge which was expected along with the gold letter badge but still no catalog..i'm wondering if it's 90% possibly? I don't know :/ even excluding the dlc i still have way over 80%

he did just show up though and didn't give it to me ; _ ; like come on i want my shiny new badge there

Sometimes he gives two or three badges, you just need to talk to him again.
That's weird though. You deserve your badges, you did your tasks so... I don't get why he won't give you the ones you can have.

I did talk to him multiple times, he gave me 3 badges and then stopped giving me the option to ask for more

Maybe 3 is the max you can get per visit. If you've earned more, I'm sure he'll be around again soon.

Other possibility might be to save and quit, then re-enter the game?

I have tried that before :/ i'm thinking i might need a bit higher idk i'm starting to think it's programed higher than 80% but they say 80% so it looks cleaner than 89.347324783924732847328947% lol hopefully someone with the badge will know

Yes, it's actually roughly 90% completion (maybe around 87/88 from what I remember my percent completion was) and not 80% unfortunately. I had around 85%-90% in every category before he came and gave me the badge after I came back from looking at HH Showcase. So maybe save quit and restart after you finish cataloging a bunch of stuff and he should appear? Call him using the megaphone, he's sometimes hiding...

Thank you for the link, very glad to know i have been keeping track of everything i thought counted *sigh of relief*, i tried yesterday to save/quit and then call him but he wasn't showing up so i decided to try to earn another badge to trigger his arrival but he still did not bring it to me :/ i guess i will have to work a bit closer to 90% then.

No problem. It calculates the percent for you in each category btw. You just have to calculate the in-between lol

I had a whole chunk of ice and snowman furniture that was missing and I didn't realize so when I completed those, he came and gave me the badge.

Nintendo did a major no-no on the percentage. They should have probably overestimated rather than underestimate but 90% is kind of intimidating to complete I guess, especially since most of the time, we are region locked with DLCs and event items

Ohhh okay that's why (my total percentage is 85%) i will go calculate that now and see then. The huge chunk of stuff i am missing is from furniture/tops. Most are really close to done.

i'm an idiot i just realized it has check boxes for everything..i have been using moridb so i just took my totals from there and added it all up myself

I am bumping this again, i am getting weird numbers again and i did add up all the numbers i worked out above and they do not add to the total number of 2970

I have seen several sources that confirm the following totals:
67 fossils
65 stationary
131 gyroids
91 KK songs
36 umbrellas

The other numbers are fluctuating so if anyone would like to help me look into it, that would be great since i am trying to get my numbers to match up, if they don't then chances are i either did not mark down/accidentally marked off items i thought i had and will have to go through my catalog again D: most concerned about all clothing sections and furniture sections.

She had some letters, some fossils and gyroids. Not sure what her total was on those when she got the golden badge.
Since she got it I've stopped collecting for her.

All players are missing a few DLC Japanese items. Think it's 5 items plus the tank.
Try posting on the trading board with your missing items.

Okay thank you for letting me know of the missing DLC. I have a thread already in the Retail forum and it's how i got a majority of my items and i'm still working on it
