Phineas is not showing up

I'm trying to get the Catalog Maniac gold badge. According to my catalog, I have over 2,300 items, not counting the DLC. Is there a good reason why he isn't appearing when I got over 80% of the catalog complete? I don't even have the badge yet.

Sometimes, Phineas just... doesn't show up. If you've Time Traveled lately, that might be why.

But, I'm pretty sure that's closer to 90%. At least to me.

That's only in City Folk. I'm not sure if it's the same in New Leaf.

DLC doesn't count. It's the other items that do.
 
Phineas has been gone for two weeks now. Probably going on some stupid adventure leaving the rest of us badgeless.
 
Ok, I just remembered ACCF after I posted that. I guess that just goes to show you how NOT addicting ACCF is.


Back on topic, maybe you're just short of 80% somehow. I've been playing since July 2013 and still don't have the gold badge for the catalog.
 
Okay, what I like to let you know is that I have all the furniture, carpets, and wallpapers, but on the clothing categories, I'm not at 80% on all categories, but combining the clothes and other items, that's 2,311. If I throw in DLC, that would be more.

It's been a while. Last badge I got from him is the fishing badge (catch a certain amount of total fish), or was it the turnip badge. Either way, he hasn't came to my town for a month. Should I try for another achievement to see if he will come?
 
Try for another badge. If he comes, if you've achieved more than one achievement, he can give you multiple badges if you talk to him again. If he doesn't give you another badge, you haven't achieved another.
 
Sometimes he just takes a while to show up. I think it's a bit random. He's given me badges for things that I'd done days before he appeared and sometimes two badges in a row. Don't worry, he'll show up eventually. When he does, if he wants to give you a different badge, you can talk to him again and he'll give you any others you have pending. :)
 
In my town, I've had Phineas visit on rainy, cloudy, all types of weather days, I don't think the weather affects when he turns up. The only time I've wondered where the heck he was was when I got 500 visitors and was expecting my gold badge. He didn't come because my alt's had opened the gates a few times, and those visits didn't count for my Mayors badge. Usually the reason Phineas doesn't show up is because you haven't managed to unlock the achievement yet. Hopefully you're nearly there, good luck! And DLC does count towards your catalog badge (I have the catalog badge myself). Anything that shows up in your catalog in Nooks, counts towards the badge.

DLCs do count since they appear in the catalog after you've gotten it in your possession, some of them are just unorderable. They also don't have to be obtained to have 80% complete that's also since Nintendo knew not everyone would be able to get those items. You need to have 80% across the board basically to have 80% completion. Make sure that you have lots of the clothing stuff, wall, floor, furniture, etc.
I used to look at this site http://animalcrossingnl.mooo.com/ to keep track of the percentages and stuff. I pretty sure gyroids and fossils count too btw, basically anything you see at the catalog machine that has a tab, so I think you need around ~2600+ to get the badge.

Okay, thank you. Now I know what to do. Get 300 more items added to my catalog. I currently have 2311 out of 2867, which actually makes 80%. Maybe there's another percentage required.

Also, I got another badge from phineas, but he still didn't give me the catalog gold badge, which means I'm still behind on the catalog. I'll shoot for 100 more items, and if I don't get my badge, I'll go for more until I get it.
 
Okay, I now have 2600+ items in my catalog (not including DLC), and I have almost all the DLC. But he still isn't showing up. Doe the badge require 80% completion to total catalog, or 80% completion of all orderable items in catalog?
 
It's done. Kaylee just got Catalog Maniac Gold awarded. Now I'll need to focus on getting the other badges.
