Personalities with great designs and issues with it

I wasn't sure what to name this thread but do you ever have issues with feeling like too many of the villagers you like are clustered in certain personalities? So many villagers I like are Normals or Peppies and I don't know why, because they're not even the personalities I love most (especially Peppies). I also feel like too many villagers I like are Crankies. These things make it so much harder to choose just 1-2 of a given personality.

On the other hand, I don't think there are any Jocks with designs I absolutely love, which makes it really hard to choose one.

This is the reason why I like that some villagers' looks don't line up with their personality. Like how Judy is snooty instead of normal or peppy or how Cyd looks smug but is a cranky instead. I love the rock/punk/goth looking villagers the best, but they typically fall into the smug and uchi personalities.

I completely feel this, I really like a lot of lazies, crankies, and peppies. I had to narrow down the amount of peppy villagers I wanted on my island because nearly half of the ones I chose were peppy haha. And yep, there aren't many jock villagers I like either!

I also struggle with this 100%. I really love a lot of the villager designs in the normal, peppy, lazy, cranky, and snooty personality groups. I also find that there aren't many jock villagers whose designs appeal to me. X)

I think I do like the designs of some types more than others, however, I also think my opinions on the designs have changed a lot over time and some of it may be influenced by the personalities I like.

I really like a lot of the peppy and sisterly designs, and these are my favorite personality types, so that tracks well. Luckily, I like the personalities enough to have multiples on my island with no problems.

I initially really liked the normals, but have found though I think a lot of them are cute, I am having a hard time finding a design that stands out in whatever special way makes my brain latch on and choose a favorite. And I actually really like the type, with their cute mundane chatter and book talk, but not sure at this point who might be one I’d want to keep forever. (maybe flurry, I love hamsters)

the lazy villagers are another one where I feel like I would potentially like to have more than one, but the designs don’t catch me. so far I haven’t found one that I really love other than Cole.

jocks on the other hand I have found have grown on me in terms of design, either because of or causing me to like the personality more. So maybe Genji can get a workout buddy at some point.

cranky types...I love love love kabuki’s design, and also think hamphrey is super cute. But the personality just currently does not work for me...I can happily talk to three peppies a day five times a day, but while island hopping yesterday I just felt bored as soon as they started talking. No idea why. But I do think it may effect how much I like their designs, because I become more picky, like the design has to outweigh the fact that they are cranky. I used to think of kabuki as an absolute fave, but I ended up letting him move, just cause I found I rarely sought him out.

I've had a similar experience. I think it is intentional from a design aspect. My thought is the designs are generally meant to match their personality type, so the normals and peppies tend to be more sweet or cute in appearance.

For example, yesterday, I saw a this image of Hazel without the unibrow. I imagine most people would say she looks better without the unibrow, and she could even be confused for a normal type this way. The unibrow kind of gives her the tough, sisterly look. I think a lot of the sisterly and snooty villagers have one or two things like this that may turn people off, but are ultimately meant to help signify their personality.

@Etown20 eh, my issue isn't so much about "cute" designs. It's more which designs I feel look unique and sort of natural since that's what I gravitate to. I love Uchis but there are fewer of them compared to Normals, for example. Besides, Katt will always be the #1 Uchi in my heart so even though I'm taking in others for a bit, she's my ultimate permanent one. The Snooties tend to look kind of generic to me.

I'm the opposite. I prefer to not repeat personalities I like or the personalities of villagers I talk to a lot because I don't want to get bored. This is why I don't want to repeat Crankies, for example.

Plus some types are really expressive in how they talk. I like repeating Normals because they're more subdued, as opposed to Peppies or Uchis who are way more distinctive in the things they say.

I actually loathe the Normal personality, but their designs are so adorable, so guess who has a majority Normal villagers on their island? I love most of the Snooty designs, and it's my favorite personality, but I feel like I have zero luck ever finding Snooty villagers on Mystery Islands! I also love the Cranky personality, but a lot of those designs leave much to be desired.

Villagers that I am interested in or already like:

Lazy: Pudge, Moe, Tom, Claude, Cole, Erik, Filbert, Hopkins, Hornsby

Smug: big maybe Hans - normally I don’t like gorillas but he has peaked my interest a little. Rodney - i can’t believe I’m putting him down but yes, the talk about him and pictures has definitely made me interested in him and graham who i was not very nice to when he was my forced camper. Lopez, Tex - temporarily was in my town and I initially didn’t like him but he grew on me.

Peppy: Puddles used to be a favorite in NL but I didn’t click with her when I invited her to campsite with ACNH dialogue. Interested also in Dotty, Agent S, Audie, Aurora, Apple, Bonbon...

Going to stop there but apparently I like a lot of the Peppy designs lol...

Jock: Biff, Frobert, Drift, Dom, Poncho, Kid Cat, Sheldon, Tank, Tad
Snooty: maybe Judy - I like her colors (not sure about the eyes), Diana, Tasha
Cranky: Spike, Rocco, Static
Uchi: Frita, Hazel, Agnes, Reneigh

Was just looking quickly through the list of villahers. I know there probably are more normal villagers, jock, and definitely more peppies that’s I’m interested in.

Going back to @Hypno KK’s original post, my answer is yes seeing how much peppies I like and considering that I’m sick of their dialogue (from having three peppies at one point) and didn’t like it as much as I liked it back in NL. I’d like to see more designs that I like with other personalities — then again, the more I post and read here, the more villagers I seem to become interested in (or at least lately lol).

I agree! There are hardly ANY peppies I like except Tammi and Audie. I've already had both of those on my island at one point... I have Tammi now... idk what i'd do if she left. Get Audie again? lol. it's a weird situation

i feel this. a lot of my favourite villagers are normal and so i always end up having 2-3 of them since i love them and their design so much. i love a lot of villagers but a huge portion of them are normal ;u;

on the other hand, there’s hardly any smug villagers that i like. my favourites are phil, zell and pietro but i could never have any of them long-term since i hate the smug dialogue so much. i don’t know what it is, exactly, but design and dialogue wise, the smugs just don’t really do it for me aha c’:

I think a lot of the villagers that fit the typical image as "cute" are peppy and normal, which is unfortunate. (that's not to say there's no other cute villagers with other personalities, every villager is cute to someone out there!!) There's no reason you couldn't have a stereotypically cute character be a jock or something! Or have a peppy character with a more sporty look too. I find most of my favorites are normal, snooty, or peppy. I haven't had a cranky yet because they don't really jive with my theme, which is a shame! I've ended up with 1 smug, 1 jock, 2 snooty, 2 lazy, 2 peppy, and 2 normal. I'm trying to keep the count under 3 for each personality type but in the end I'll probably end up with another peppy and another normal at the least. I just can't stand the repetitive dialog, though!

Yes, too many villagers I like are peppy and normal also. They need to dial it back a little with the normals especially. Way too many of them. Focus more on Uchis.

I have this problem with literally every personality. There are so many cool villagers out there, yet only 10 plots...
I wish they would introduce that feature from Pocket Camp that allows you to call up every villager that previously lived in your camp and invite them back at any point.

i really like villagers of the normal personality to the point I had 5 on my island at one point, it's really frustrating bc there are so many cute ones but i told myself i wanted one of each personality on the island.
i feel like they need more uchi villagers though, maybe it's just me but i find very few of them are likeable

My struggle is that I really like the uchi personality but barely like any of the designs in it D: Similarly I don't like the normal personality but there are many really cute designs in that category.
