Permanent Resident in your Island

I used to do the whole dreamies thing, but that lost it's appeal to me. I got my top 10 favorite villagers multiple times and rather than feeling excitement and motivation to keep playing to enjoy them, I end up getting bored and losing interest in the game. It's as if getting my dreamies was end-game for me. Besides that, I would also get bored of having the same 10 villagers in my town. With almost 300 possibilities I felt I was severely limiting myself in that regard. Now, I have around 40 villagers that I would consider favorites, and I have fun seeking them out and kind of cycling between those. It keeps variety flowing for me.

The one exception to this is Wolfgang, who I can claim is my #1 favorite. I like to always keep him around, regardless of who the other 9 are that come and go.

Wolfgang has been in every game and town I've had since 2005.

Always will be.

A few are never allowed to leave (Stella, Chief, Fauna, Marshal... and Kiki, but I have her amiibo card) and the rest I’m happy to eventually let go. In saying that, I love all my current villagers and can’t imagine kicking any of them off any time soon.

As for a dreamie list, the only villager I knew I wanted from the start was Kiki tbh. Then I wanted Marshal and Fauna, but the rest just kinda fell into place

I have villagers who won't ever leave my island. That's namely Felicity, Pekoe, Rosie, Diana, Skye, Chrissy, and Francine. As for the remaining three, I am still on a fence whether to keep them permanently or not. For sure, I won't let Judy go once she moves to my island! I am probably going to rotate the remaining two for fun.

Raymond is the only permanent resident on my island since it would be too much of a pain to get him again. Everyone else gets booted off once I get their picture.

I had dreamies in acnl and I kinda regretted it since I got them pretty fast, and moving villagers in and our was super tedious in that game (since they plotted anywhere), so I wanted to see more villagers this time round.


For me, I have some permanent residents (i.e. Rudy and Judy), but the rest I will let go eventually. I think it's nice to have at least 1-2 villagers at any time you're ok with leaving so you can see more villagers haha

i, for one, have a permanent dreamie list. there does come a point, after getting everyone’s photo, that i get a bit bored of them and consider letting them leave but my dreamies are villagers that i absolutely adore and can’t see myself letting go of.

that being said, i don’t have all my dreamies yet, and i’m not in any rush to find them. i’m taking this opportunity to invite whatever villagers i encounter that i enjoy and, if they wind up bumping out one of my dreamies because i come to like them more, that’s okay with me

I have two dreamies and the rest are non-dreamies. Nine of my villagers are permanent residents and I am thinking of letting one villager go so I can get a new one.

I’ve got eight that are permanent. The other two slots I use to cycle new villagers to keep things interesting in my island. I think looking for new villagers is one of the best parts about the game so I got something to look forward to every two weeks.

i currently have about 4 that, at the moment, i see as permanent villagers. i enjoy island hopping and having new villagers on my island
