Permanent Resident in your Island

I had a list of dreamies but once I got their photos, I started letting some of them leave. I'm getting to the point now where I've got some I really like and it's hard to let them go. And sometimes I've let them go, only to find that they show up again after someone else leaves.

Colton and Sterling are two that I wouldn't let leave.

Right now, I'm trying to keep one of each personality type so I can finish getting DIYs and reactions from them. After I've gotten the personality-specific DIYs, I might do something fun like have mostly wolves or deer.

All 10 are are staying. What I really need is the option to have more villagers especially if they don't give us any new buildings. I would love the Roost to come back, but I think anything new will just be an add on to an existing building. In a way that kinda stinks because I wish they at least gave us an option. Reneigh my starting uchi and I don't even want to move her out and move her back just to fix her starter home. I'd feel to bad letting her go, so they just need to give me more villager than ten lol

I have a few villagers that I'd never get rid of, like Lobo and Audie, but for the most part I like trying new villagers!
and I have amiibo cards of all of my villagers (besides Audie ofc), so if I decide I want them back, I can just re-scan them

I would stop looking, which is why I am not immediately looking for my last two spots to be filled so I can meet more villagers and get their pictures 😊. Plus, I have their amiibo card (though I prefer to find them on the island without using the card). I’m nervous about that happening since there is no way I can say no or walk away. ><

Right now, I'd consider my island filled with dreamies: villagers whose designs I like and who I'd love to have on my island. Once they're there, I quickly grow attached to some, but I can grow bored with others just as easily.

So yeah, some I let go even before I have their picture, if e.g. another interesting campsite villager comes by. Others, I will probably never let go, I've grown very fond of Hornsby and Hopper. And some, yeah, they'll only go once I have their picture.

After getting one more will keep my current line up but 3 of them are possible move outs later. Just having trouble the move out cloud has been on beau for 3 days now, just won't switch villagers for some reason

I was originally gonna have permanent residents... until I realized how bored I would get of residents after awhile. Like, I'd hold on to some for a few months and, after awhile, I just realized I tended to stop talking to them because it'd be like, "Oh, hey, it's Dobie... cool. Whatever." So, now I'm taking an approach where I keep villagers AT LEAST until I get their pics and then decide if I want to keep them longer. I usually have a list of who's "allowed" to move at any given time. Currently it consists of Coach and... Coach. I mean, don't get me wrong- I really like Coach, I didn't at first but he's become a favorite jock for me now. But I've had him since, like, March or April and it's time for a change.
I also had the idea the other day to maybe try "seasonal" villagers. Like, I had Marina in late summer... but I think, after Coach, she can be the next to go. And I recently got Lucky and Pietro, both of whom I plan to hang on to for Halloween.
Personally, I find thinking of all villagers as temporary helps me appreciate and enjoy them more!

I forgot to mention who are my permanent residents. My permanent residents are Raymond, Punchy, Rosie, Merry, Sherb, Kiki, Rudy, Roscoe (though his singing has been getting on my nerves so maybe), and Ankha and Marshal (or Lolly depending on who I find first). I also have cyd and Dom; I’m reluctant to let Dom go since I think he’s cute (not on top of my favorite list but I’d like to say he’s a favorite or high on my like list) both temporaries.

Pretty much all of them except for Anabelle.

1) She was a random move in and we have other villagers we want on the island more than her

2) We already have a anteater villager anyways; Snooty.

I use my villager house exteriors as a huge part of my exterior decorations, so I'm very careful about changes I make.

Stella and Teddy have log cabins so they're both in this rustic little corner I've set up for them. Bree has a great-looking beach house (New England opposed to Hawaii) that I ended up designing my entire shore around. Raymond and Savannah both have really attractive houses that look fantastic together and I ended up building my town center around them.

I pick villagers that I like, but I never invite anyone if I hate their exterior and some of the villagers I have would be difficult to replace just because they're sort of carrying the section of the island where their house is located.

I find it hard to tell; it really depends on my interactions with them! I have gotten hold of a few of my permanent villagers: Lily, Tia, Poppy, Marshal, and Fauna. However, I wouldn’t mind not getting all of my dreamies, as I would love to have a few rotating villagers as well! I like the thrill of getting to meet new ones I haven’t seen before, hehehe! 😊

As I've been playing and getting villager's framed photos, I've been letting most of them go, but I'm coming to a point where I really like all the villagers I have. If I were to let somebody go, it would probably be Piper but I would only let her go for either Raymond or Hamphrey.

Actually, if I REALLY had too, I think I would let 4 villager's go with the exception of Chops, Cyd, Flurry, Avery, Pietro and Boone. (I know, I have weird preferences, but I lover them 🥺 )

I JUST got Bones & I'm gonna be throwing a welcome home party for him soon because I love him so much & I already have his picture but gdi he is a babey & I love him so much
I don't have all of my dreamies but when I do get them & their pics there's no way I'm gonna get rid of any of them when I've been working so hard to get them
tbh i have all of my dreamies pics before I even have any of my dreamies

I only have 4 islanders that I really wanted at the moment so I have a lot of island hoping to do to find them haha. I wouldn’t mind getting a cat villager seeing as I have had the game since the beginning and still never had a cat :( only really horse and bunnies.

All of mine were permanent, but depression and boredom over the missing NL items made me get rid of four of my favorite villagers.

I feel sick over it.

I'm at that point with Sherb. I love him and he is adorable. But I have his picture and there are so many other villagers out there. I just haven't decided.

I think part of the problem is that I really love the starter lazy house. I'm not willing to let that go yet.
I know what you mean, I feel the exact same way about Zell and Diana, I love them so much! I've given them so much clothing that matches them so well but idk, I haven't spoken to them as much lately but the idea of not seeing them running around the island kinda upsets me... I almost feel like getting a second island, but I know that for me the investment is not worth it.

At this point I only have 2 permanent residents, Freckles and Zucker. I do like all my other villagers, but at the same time I do want to cycle through them to keep things fresh.

All of my villagers are now permanent, because they go with my My hero academia themed island with each one of them corresponding to characters in the anime
Dobie- Toshinori/All might
Marshal- Bakugo
Sherb- Deku
Julian- Aoyama
Genji- Tenya
Raymond- Todoroki
Maple- Uaraka
Carmen- Jiro
Cyd- Kirishima
Sheldon- Kaminari

I used to do the whole dreamies thing, but that lost it's appeal to me. I got my top 10 favorite villagers multiple times and rather than feeling excitement and motivation to keep playing to enjoy them, I end up getting bored and losing interest in the game. It's as if getting my dreamies was end-game for me. Besides that, I would also get bored of having the same 10 villagers in my town. With almost 300 possibilities I felt I was severely limiting myself in that regard. Now, I have around 40 villagers that I would consider favorites, and I have fun seeking them out and kind of cycling between those. It keeps variety flowing for me.

The one exception to this is Wolfgang, who I can claim is my #1 favorite. I like to always keep him around, regardless of who the other 9 are that come and go.
