Perfectionism taking its toll...

Yeah I reset 2 developed towns for this final one that I will make sure to keep. For my current town I reset for 4 hours I'd say? Not nearly as long as you, but I wanted something really specific to make sure I wouldn't ditch this town again. I wanted square grass (for star snow), cherries/peaches/apples as the town fruit, and a vertical waterfall with space for my house by the top waterfall (some had rocks in the darn way). And I got exactly what I wanted, it was so worth it.

But seriously, I have a really hard time playing acnl, especially with permanent PWP placements. It took me a month to place my campsite (and now I regret it's spot... sigh) and another month to place my cafe. I just built it today. Also plot resetting is such a chore, but I'm really pleased with how some of my villagers are lined up. But honestly if you hate your town due to its layout, I'd say reset, villagers can change but your layout can't.

I have almost the exact same layout, except flipped horizontally and with the plaza's and the museum's positions switched up.

It's definitely not a very spacious layout. The river takes up a lot of space, and the upper left and upper right land portions will practically be unusable. The bottom strip south of the river will also feel a bit too narrow to develop any large-scale gardens or PWPs.

In spite of all of that, I actually like the layout. The best feature for me, I think, is the fact that you can make many long, vertical roads which you can line with trees and flowers for a nice effect. The relative lack of space is a bit of a plus for me as it makes my village more cozy. Plus, I think the river shape is very interesting.

If you dislike the layout, then you should reconsider resetting, but I think it's also worth taking into mind that the actual process of shaping/building your village is how you make it yours.

I finally got past it in July, after years of resetting animal crossing towns..
had my town for 6 months now and still in love with it
i did get 3 dreamies in my originals and an amazing layout though..

I was way too excited to get New Leaf that I jumped right into it and I regret it after seeing so many awesome town layouts through Dream Suite. But I can't bring myself to reset and I've come to love it. I hope you get the villagers you want because that's a pretty awesome layout!

You may say I'm your opposite. I'm aiming mainly for good starters.
Although I did look the layout too, but I didn't look the plaza/town hall/Re-Tail locations at that time.

Also, Walt is actually cool. :p

I've heard that this layout is difficult on account for limited PWP space. Ugh. This just may make me continue on my long journey of resetting :(

Actually, you're right. I've had that layout on more than one occasion and I literally had room for maybe 10 PWP's. I couldn't put my Caf? down either, as there was no room anywhere.

I got really lucky after hearing these stories. I got my layout within 30 minutes, but I wanted to play asap because this the day New Leaf first came out, so I wasn't overly picky.

But now, I seriously appreciate and love my layout! All of my original villagers were pretty lame, and all of them have left. In my opinion, layout > train station color > villagers > fruit > grass/snow.

As someone who had that map and reset despite having every villager I wanted (except Zucker, so same situation I'm in now really) don't keep it. It's terrible for PWP and even with three bridges the river is soooo annoying to run around. It looks pretty but it's actually a really terrible map in gameplay terms. I know you've spent a lot of time resetting but after dumping that map (along with a billion bells, heaps of badges and upgrades, 9/10 awesome villagers) I was SO much happier. I've completely stopped TTing and get so much more enjoyment out of the game now - I have oranges (I hated oranges) and I can't even remember what shape my grass is because I like pottering around and doing things in the game now!

I have a very similar layout as well, but I had/have a completely different experience. PWP placement wasn't hard, and its super easy to get around with 30 PWPs and 10 villagers. But I will say that it gives you a very linear path with lots of horizontal and vertical lines. So if you want a town that's more "natural" with trees and PWPs in a scattered everywhere, then don't go with this layout.

I have that exact layout and I love it <3 Villagers will come and go, don't worry about your starters! (And, imo, Hamlet is the best jock and Caroline is cute)

I know how you feel.
I used to reset over how the cobblestones near Re-Tail looked. D:
But yeah I like your layout. :)

I think that your layout looks great, but that the final decision is really up to you.

Still, if you find yourself getting too caught up in resetting over and over, just think of it the way I do;
Every time you create a new town, you're creating a small parallel ACNL universe. By hitting the power button and resetting the town without becoming mayor, you've just left a group of villagers abandoned in the dark, never to have the affection of the person they were so anxious to meet.

... Okay, that seems a bit creepier when written out. Still, that line of thinking is how I got myself to stop resetting and just stick with a town.

id love to have that town map ... its so awesome ...

i was going to reset for an ideal town map. and i think i may have once or twice if it was terrible. but this is a reality game of sorts so i said that life isnt always perfect. so i stuck with the very next best one i saw.

When I first got New Leaf I had issues finally settling on a town layout. I finally decided on one and kept it for about a month, then reset due to TTing that resulted in shops that I shouldn't of had at the time (can't live with that, honestly). I've had my current town ever since, and I'm pretty sure it'll stay my permanent town. Yeah, I sometimes get that urge to just start it aaall over again, but once I do that, it's inevitable that I'll end up constantly erasing every town I get because it's not "perfect". *shrug*

What would be best to do is just give that town a shot and see how far you can go with it and how much you enjoy it.
