Penn and Teller on Socialists

That really isn't socialism in the video... socialism would be them splitting the pie....
and if it is taxes it would be taking a small portion of the pie, I mean who actually eats a whole pie....

Taxes I can say could get bad, but really they are necessary in our structured society both to try and curb trends that in the end will destroy our nation and as a way to provide services we all need now like roads. Fact is without taxes the government would have no power to keep businesses in check as well as provide for the general public's safety.

We shouldn't even have taxes. They were instituted for wars, but the government kept them. They're also called a Voluntary Compliance. How does that work? Explain it to me please.
If there were no taxes, you wouldn't go to school. You couldn't drive to the store, because there would be no roads.
If there were no taxes, going to school would be easier, driving to the store would be easier, as would getting gas. The government thinks that since we have money, and they don't they can just give our money to themselves. Without taxes, more than likely, gas would be cheaper, going to school (private schools, homeschools, etc) would be easier as well. Taxes make things harder, not easier. And if the government hadn't decided to waste their money on crap, then they would be able to pay for things without our money. It's our money, we worked for it, the government didn't, DOESN'T work for it.
So what abut kids who's parents can't afford private school? Who would build the roads? Bill Gates?
They would all most likely end up being private roads. Or toll roads that you have to pay to go on. So you take a pick. Taxes and the government makes it easy. Or private companies where you have no clue where your money is going or what it is used for. Most likely not fixing the roads, more likely going to some fat cat's pocket so he can buy a yacht.

...the hell are you on? Taxes don't make everything easy, they make things harder for a lot of people. And the government doesn't make anything easy. They make things worse. So far, we're in a state of turmoil that's only getting worse. Prove to me how the government can/is making things easy.

That guy must be eating that pie really fast or he throws it under the table when the camera pans off of him. x)

If there were not taxes, everything would be run by the private sector. With no regulations, monopolies would run rampant. You would have to be paying more for everything, because a company's primary goal is to make money. As Lord Yaun said, you wouldn't have the piece of mind of knowing that what you spend your money on is actually helping the country. It'd be going straight to a rich dude's pocket.
