so its been forever since i have played it feels like and i was just wonddering what you do on your town. i used to have paths on my old one, but i was a lot farther along than mine is now. when i played last time it seems like everyone i visited had paths. i dnt have a lot of friends right now, but it seems like who i have visited dont have paths. just wondering if paths are still a popular choice or if im just outdated. haha.

I don’t use QR paths in my main town but I am using them in my new secondary town. They are a good deterant for villagers placing their houses everywhere, so it’s wise to at least utilize them a little at the beginning of the game. My first town I made before the Welcome amiibo update and I kinda just let villagers roam freely and based my paths around their houses, so it kinda made sense for me not to use QR paths.

Personally I think paths make your town look more like a town, so I almost always use them. They almost always make a town look better in my opinion.

i have paths, i think they're really nice! unfortunately i've never been too good at placing paths so my town looks kinda messy :(

thanks for responding. i have been looking for a path i like.i honestly think im gonna start using them again cause i used to have little squares on the path that i would put some flowers and stuff and make it look cute, but now im afraid to put them anywhere cause i dont want people to run over them if they are just in a random spot.

i use paths just to remind me of where i should walk, so my town isn't covered by patches from my running amok lmao but also because it helps & prevents new villagers from destroying my stuff when they plot.

so that actually does help? putting down paths and villagers wont move over it? cause when i played last villagers moved over paths anyway and messed up my stuff soo much!

I don't have the patience to deck out my entire town so sometimes I put down stepping stones here and there. I have my town flag scattered everywhere to prevent villagers from moving in where I don't want them! I've also been creating patterns with 'bush', 'tree', and 'pwp' as just a marker for where I need to put stuff down.

Thanks to the update, they no longer destroy your paths!

I use paths in my towns (Vista, Flora and Chocolat).
Moonview and Ume have more of a stepping stone thing going on.

What I won't do is to cover everything with one (except for plot resetting), cutting down all the trees and replacing them with fake pattern trees, fake grass or fake flowers.

yeah is a new thing with the amiibo update! they don't plot on paths, so if you want to protect your orchard or something, just plant some qr codes behind your trees and make sure there's not enough space 3x3 for them to move in. contrast to that, if you want them to plot somewhere precisely, do the opposite :)

I once used paths in one of my towns. It looked nice but it was a lot of work to place them all down, especially since I used full paths with corners and those tiles that fill up the corner from the inside so it looks nicer.

But the Downside of that is having to have more than one character, which I couldn't be bothered to maintain. Also, I couldn't use custom outfits since I then would have a space less for the paths. So yeah. In my last town and what I am aiming for in my new town is making alleys with trees and bushes and lay out the paths with clovers :)

Though I currently do have some town flags next to my house, since all the villagers seem to LOVE my house and always wanna move there which I don't want, leave me alone xD

I have a brick road that goes through my town, and a few side paths here and there. But yeah, the main downside for me is that I only have 10 slots on each character, so that limits how much designing I can really do. I really hope future animal crossing games give us more slots, and I would also really like the ability to designate certain pixels as transparent so you can see the ground through them... there would be so many cool options to make things like stepping stones!

awesome, good idea! gonna remember that for next time. had someone move right in front of me and would love for the next person to move somewhere else when he is gone!

ahh that's the worst haha it's so irritating and cute how villagers want to plot right near the mayor. not today, honey.

How do you get paths?? Like is it a public project?? How?

"paths" are just qr codes. anyone can use them and create them, they're in the second tab after your inventory.

I have a stone path that goes through my town, flower path which is usually with the stone path, and a river path which I put around the event plaza and a couple other areas. The only downside is that it takes up most of my slots, especially the river one with its directions and corners but enough room for a few more designs.
