Hi, everyone! I was just wondering what everyone else did with their town, and whether they put paths or left the way and it is and simply planted lots of flowers and trees to decorate.

I personally do natural, but I might make my town pathed later on, I just feel like it takes a long time to lay out the paths and most of the time I procrastinate too much and I'm way too lazy to do it.

I do a bit of both. The main areas are pathed like Plaza/Town Hall/Retail, while everything else is left natural with lil rock paths or clovers and such.

I was actually thinking about how cool a clover path would look, too bad that it would probably take super long just to get maybe 6 in a 2x3 grid, so that's out of the question. At least we can still try to make clover paths on Happy Home Designer, so I'm satisfied about that part.

I also do both, though I'd say I have more paths. While I have a lot of paths, I try not to neglect the nature side of things. I have plenty of trees planted, loads of flowers, and bushes as well. I used to be lazy too, but when I started putting down paths, I actually found it really fun and relaxing.

Getting clovers is not that hard. I remember I got like 30 clovers for 200k on this forum a lil bit ago. If you put some effort in, you can have a town with a little over 200 clovers, like I did in no time.

However, I much prefer natural dirt paths if you have the will/patience for it. I'm aiming for a town with paths on main areas and then natural dirt paths everywhere else. Wish me luck xD

I prefer to have a natural town, but since that's near impossible for me and my bad luck with grass deterioration whenever I get far enough in the game I tend to make paths to follow.

I've had no paths in New Leaf up until a few days ago. I made my path out of clovers and I feel like it still has a natural/earthy look to it unlike patterns. My town still looks natural (to me at least) the only difference now is that people have an idea of where to go in my town. Before people got lost often.

I view my town of Eden as a modern suburbia of sorts so paths are must. Truth be told I have paths in all my towns keeps me from running in trees and screwing up my grass.

I usually have (as in I've always had) paths, in New Leaf usually from a QR code; but lately I've been thinking of removing my path and trying to make some sort of wandering areas surrounded by flowers/bushes/trees. It could look so awesome and natural, so I'm going to try that sometime soon. I also got into making my own (1-tile) path lately, so I could use my own pattern to suggest where the path is going, while still being able to change it up whenever I want.
If I had to choose from the poll of what I like best, I'd probably say natural paths. It inspires me to see towns where the natural aspects of the game are used to create a path, I love the natural feel it can give. I like pattern paths too though; as long as there are not patterns everywhere (though this also depends on the theme of the town).

Oh by the way, I forgot to add that by natural paths I also mean no paths at all. I feel like in the end every town is going to have some sort of wandering route (I don't mean grass wear, but that may be a result of it) though, so you could refer to that as paths. :)

I like natural towns the most, I tried patterns and I didn't like that black line that popped up between two side by side patterns on occasion.

I think having paths makes a town more pretty. My town has paths and that's how i'm gonna keep it.

Yup, I have paths in my town too.

It really depends on what kind of town you are making. If you are making a fairytale, modern city, or color themed city then having paths are a great choice!

If you are making a zen, forest, or nature based town then natural is awesome.

I prefer having paths because the natural look doesn't look as clean in my eyes. If I want a natural dirt path, I would like the paved look. Also, my current path pattern brings out the color of the buildings/bushes/flowers/pwps even more. The paths makes the colors look more vibrant and outline my town layout. For me, its harder to create a good looking town with natural paths.

I think it depends on what kind of town you're going for. I have a medieval fantasy town so I've been doing cobblestone up until yesterday when I decided to start redoing it into alternating rampant dragon and rampant lion stone tiles. Paths can be a way to organize your town and emphasize a theme like the cobblestones I had before or a personal touch like my own custom tiles that I carefully put time and effort into making. If you feel your town is better suited for exploring like a natural forest town or a mysterious horror town then paths might just take away from it and end up being a waste of time.

Same here. When I start paths that is usually what I do, then depending on how much I care, I may make paths leading from place to place, but I've never done an almost-full town of paths. Some times I'll add paths around works projects or forests/gardens/"parks".
