Past residents on main street

How many former residents show up on main street at a time? I still have my first move out walking around. I've only had like 4 or 5 move outs though.

I've seen all of mine at some point.

I don't know how many at once, as they're scattered throughout the shops, and even in the museum.

I have a lot of voided villagers walking around my main street. I'm assuming it's around 8, and the other 8 stay in the void. I'm not entirely sure.

Bubbles was the first villager that left for me and she's still walking around. I've cycled out a lot of villagers and have no idea the exact number.

I haven't had enough villagers move out to know for sure! But I definitely have seen all of my move-outs at some point or another. I'm not sure if someone adopts them while they're in boxes if they'll show up at main street? My last villager to move out was Coco and she got adopted. I've yet to see her on main street but she might show up one day I have no idea!! :3

Any villager that moved out appears in main street, it doesn't matter if they were adopted or not. In my experience, no one appears until you have 3 animals move out, then your first move out will appear there. When you move out a 4th villager, the 2nd one will appear, and so it goes. I believe the maximum amount is 16, the so called "16 villager cycle". Once the first move-out becomes the 17th villager, they'll stop appearing in main street and can live in town again.

I'm trying my hardest not to void anymore villagers because I never wanted Gruff or Cole to move out but tt'ing screwed me so I like seeing them on Main Street. I'm scared if I void anymore Cole will be gone forever

So they never go away unless you boot out another villager? Never? It's like you let them leave but they never really left? If so, then it's tempting to rearrange villagers until you at least get some you actually like running into... I mean there's a reason they aren't living in my village anymore and it directly correlates to the feeling of dread whenever I see mine.

Same tbh, I make sure to whack Graham and Klaus with my net every time I see them outside of a shop because I really never wanted to see them again after finally getting rid of them. Go away! I'm the mayor and I'm telling you you're not allowed here!

I?m almost certain it has nothing to do with if they were voided, adopted, or not. A villager that has moved out of town will appear on Main Street until 16 others have moved out after them, once 16 are cycled through the first villager will no longer show up on Main Street and you?ll be able to move them back in, unless you have the card for that villager in that case they can move in with the swipe of the card regardless.

Before the amiibo cards were a thing if you lost a dreamie someway or another you had to move 16 villagers in and out of your town before you could move said dreamie back in, its a tedious process but well worth it if you want a good friend back! I had to do it with Bam and it was tough but I?m glad he?s back
