Pascal not appearing anymore? [SOLVED]

I've been catching a scallop every day since the update. And for the first week or so, I got Pascal every time I caught my first scallop of the day. But yesterday and today, Pascal didn't appear even after I caught a couple of scallops. There was that small update/patch that got added a few days ago, could that have made him not appear like he's supposed to? Or is there some trick to getting him to appear that I was doing without knowing it for the first week?

He doesn't always appear on the first scallop. Should check that your gates are closed and the scallop didn't take the last inventory slot.

How many scallops is a couple? Once it took me NINE scallops to get him to show up

My gates have been closed, but I'll try making sure I have an empty inventory and catching more than one scallop per day. I guess I just got lucky with him showing up on the first scallop the first seven or eight times. ^o^;>

Got him to appear again by catching more scallops. Thanks for encouraging me to keep trying, that seems to be the answer!

I’ve learned the hard way that full inventory and open gates makes Pascal an unhappy otter.

Usually I get him on the first scallop, but today I caught two and he didn't show up. I've heard that if you're too close to the rope, he may not show. Both scallops were along the east rope about halfway down.
