Has anyone heard of Paralives? I found out about this game yesterday and it looks promising. It's still in a very early stage of development but it definitely has the potential to become something really really good. The creator also seems to really care about what the community wants this game to be which is nice to see. The concept is similar to The Sims.

Some information from the official website:

* Paralives comes with innovative tools to create grid-less constructions, curved walls, resizable objects, split level floors, custom shaped stairs, full color/texture customization and much, much more!

* Paralives offers a rich open world filled with possibilities! Focus on your career, love life, friends, family, children or the town?s community and well-being!

* Put on your best outfit, call some friends and use your bike or car to meet them at the park, restaurant, beach, shop, mountain or anywhere, really!

There're a few more video clips on the website.

I'm really excited about this! I'm a long time fan of The Sims and I think a competitor is much needed for the franchise.

I haven't heard of Paralives before this but it does look interesting. Would have to learn a bit more about it before knowing if it can actually compete with EA. I've wanted a Sims competitor ever since Paradox Studios showed they can make a far superior city builder that costs less than Simcity. If a studio can manage to make a Sims competitor that doesn't cost hundreds of dollars to make playable, I would definitely consider buying that.

Yeah, it's obviously far too early to tell. And it is an indie game, as of right now developed by one single person (this might change though). It's not an easy thing competing with a company like EA (though I do sometimes ask myself if EA is even trying with The Sims anymore.. It sure doesn't feel like it).

I'm not expecting this game to outcompete The Sims. I honestly don't wish it to become "a better version of The Sims" at all. I rather see something different. A new take on the "genre". But I'm excited to see someone do ANYTHING at this point.

Cities Skylines is a great example of what's possible!

I'm super excited for this! My favorite thing to do in the sims is so these tools look like heaven to me.

The sims desperately needs a competitor with how lackluster sims 4 is. Even if this isn't a be-all-end-all replacement for the sims at least it could give EA incentive to actually...try.

I've seen it and it looks fantastic + the dev looks really passionate about this! There's even a discord server where you can suggestions stuff and discuss the game.
