Over/Underrated Villagers

i also think beau is super overrated... idk why he/she just seems soooo generic and boring and nothing really sticks out about beau

i think some underrated villagers are pate, wendy, vesta, gloria, and a lot more really...

Overrated ~ in no particular order: Beau, Marshal, Julian, Pietro, the wolves, Fauna, Cherry

Marshal ~ I was trying to make my town diverse and even though I don't care much for smugs, I decided to find a different smug to have in my town; Marshal was the only one that thought was kind of cute. I do like his sulky appearance, but I don't think it goes well with his voice or personality; I think he'd be cuter as a cranky. Even though I like him, I do think he's over rated and there are other cuter villagers out there.

Fauna ~ I honestly don't think she's very cute or cute the way I think of fauns in real life. I don't know if it's her eyes or head that makes her design look weird, or what it is that bothers me a little about her appearance.

Underrated: Puddles ~ even though I don't like pink, don't care for frogs in real life or animated; somehow she found her way into my heart. Since she has been with me since day one, I feel more attached to her and happier when she tells me how good of a friend I am to her, than I do with Rosie, whom I've had only for a few weeks now. I love Rosie too, but, I don't feel as emotionally attached to her yet as I do with Puddles.

Pudge ~ Ever since I saw him in a sailor tee in this thread, I couldn't stop myself from thinking how cute he is and wondered why I never paid attention to him before. Now, I think he's just as cute as Stitches even though his appearance is more natural and generic (I think that's the word) looking than Stitches who is really unique and interesting looking.

Roscoe ~ For some reason, I have always been under the impression that black stallion characters (in not just Animal Crossing but other games, television shows, or maybe preference in the color of a horse's coat irl) would be really popular; I don't remember what the reason was for me to be under this impression though. I guess maybe it's just like the popular categorizing/stereotyping of what colors girls would like more than guys and vice versa. I know that sounds kind of dumb what I just said :/. Anyways, I honestly thought and still think Roscoe is really intimidating ~ and intimidating looking; and I think his appearance really goes well with his personality.

Note: I'd write more about each of the villagers I listed and add more to the underrated, but I'm getting tired lol.

I definitely concur with Roscoe being underrated. He's a favourite of mine from Wild World, and he's just wonderful. Such a shame crankies got so watered down in New Leaf, I miss the days when they were actually really cranky. I really liked how his house was designed back then, too; not sure whether it's the same now, but it had a cool chess theme that I adored.

I recently had a major internal struggle with Roscoe, because I do really like him, but he asked to leave. I agreed for about a day, and then decided there's not a cranky villager I like more, so he's staying. He really is the best cranky and I like them a little softer. I had Rasher in City Folk and I couldn't get that ugly hog to leave fast enough.

Oh I almost forgot Gaston. I really like Gaston even though I honestly don't think his appearance is anything special. He's another villager that was with me from day one to now; that I didn't think much of when I first started to get to know him. Now, he's like a big brother or father-like figure (I know he and Harry hint at their age by calling themselves "old" indirectly, so maybe this isn't weird for me to say).

Broffina, Queenie, Celia, Maelle, Vladimir, Elise, Monty... the list of underrated villagers is endless. But this is just from my opinion and experiences with these animals - everyone's interpretations are different.

Im not a fan of any of the villagers except the cats, bunnies, squirrels, a few deer, a few hamsters and one frog lol.

Underrated villagers: Tabby (Yes, she may be ugly but she fits her name and her personality and room is cute)
Drago (I always thought he would be the one to be super popular because if a unicorn is, then a dragon sure as heck also should be)
Annalise (She is honestly super adorable and I would love to have her in my second town n.n)

Over rated villagers: Marshal (I get it, he is a marshmallow squirrel. But his face looks like someone pissed in his coffee imo)
Julian (I felt like his personality wasn't to my standards but whatever, a unicorn is cool)

They are both so cute, and I think Diana/Marshal are a bit overrated.
Sure, they're cute, but... meh.
Ah, and Fang.
I've never really been a fan of the wolf villagers.

Imo, the most overrated villager has to be cat villagers and the wolves villagers (except for Whitney). I've had my share of both species in my town and I never found them to be pleasant. They were cute and all, but they didn't sit well in my town. Whitney is the exception since she's been in my town since Wild World and has been my favourite since then. She was the first to gave me her picture in WW and she just meant a lot to me so I'm glad I have her in my town again ~

The most underrated villager is Hamphrey and Tammy. They're really cute. Hamphrey is just this cranky ball of fur that hates to be called cute but he is. A cranky hamster is the best thing you can have in your town. Tammy is amazing. She's like the tough best friend that will protect you no matter what. Even though she's tough, she still has some cuteness to her. So yea ~

Underrated - Hamlet he's one of my last starting villagers in new leaf, he's funny, has a cool design and always sends great items ( I got my first bamboo shoot and villager pic from him) others I feel are underrated are Chester ( who's also pretty funny), Shari ( who's the best looking Uchi villager imo) and Graham.

I really love Colton! I don't understand how he is Tier 5 or Dizzy (he's adorable!!)

I personally don't know why everyone and their mother likes Marshal.

I had him in my campsite and invited him in, bc you know, he was a tier one and all. There must have been at least one redeeming or desirable quality for everyone to want him, right?

Sadly, I didn't find that to be the case. I gave him away and just don't know why people like him. /-:

Overrated almost all of the villagers in T1. I just don't understand. Maybe because I've never interacted with them? But most of my dreamies are in lower tiers.

Underrated any of the hamsters. They're so freaking cute, why does no one want them.

The only over-rated villager I know is Marshal since so many people want him and I've never seen what the fuss kicked up over him is about. I can't tell who's underrated because I'm really unaware of most people's opinions on different villagers. I really like Simon since he moved in, I've always been a huge Rocco fan. Are they universally well-liked?

People get really worked up over overrated villagers. I don't get why, I like when my villagers are lower tier, it makes my town more unique!

The only villager I really despise is Zucker. I just find him to be so ugly! xD I think he's in tier one or two, which I don't get, but I suppose he makes other people happy. I least if I ever have him, I can sell him for a pretty penny.

I think Gladys and Willow are very underrated, but I'm extremely biased.

Yeah, I've heard Zucker is really popular too. I'm not sure why, he doesn't strike me as anything particularly special really. Maybe it's just the letter z, so fancy, so edgy.
