Other Language Versions

Hi there,

I sometimes change the language for games to see how the translation was done there and I noticed that in the German version, the cranky villagers are FAR way crankier than in the English version. I always wondered why cranky villagers had gotten so much friendlier since CF/WW but it seems like the translators for the English version of NL just didn't do their job all that well. It's kinda odd how some of the conversations are completely different. I was surprised by how much the German version differed in content from the English version. It would be interesting to play the Japanese version and see how that is since obviously, the Japanese one was the original.

Have you played NL in other languages and compared it to English? Did you notice (major) changes compared to the English version? Looking forward to your replies!

I haven't played the game in other languages because I'm not fluent enough. xD
I know some Spanish, but not enough to be able to know what the villagers are saying exactly.

It is interesting that Cranky villagers are crankier in German though. I wonder if the average player age is higher over there so they had less chance of making younger children upset during conversations. I like Kabuki because although he can be cranky sometimes like his personality, at other times he is a bit nicer and friendlier. <3

That's pretty cool. I would've preferred more crankier villagers, but I'm fine with the friendly crankies, I guess.

I wish I was fluent in another language, my dad and (some of) my siblings are fluent in French but I know very little.

When I read some translations from the Japanese versions, it seems like basicly all characters are nicer there, they make the english characters look like bullies.
Personally, I really like the cranky personality in acnl as it has a lot more depth in the conversations, almost feels like I'm not talking to a character that was created like it would only need to satisfy children from the age of 8 with its conversation.
But tell me, how many pages for each english sentence does the German version need? I mean come on, we all know that all languages that are Germanic since their origin have way longer words.
Anyway, I dislike the fact that nintendo takes the time to make a german and french version but no other languages. We all know that Arabic and Hindi would be the best languages to let nintendo translate and actually make an extra version from
