Other Animal Crossing-Like Games

I'm always curious about other games that capture the calm, homely tone of the Animal Crossing series, though there doesn't seem to be a lot out there. I can think of some like Fantasy Life, Magician's Quest and Harvest Moon, but yeah there's not many out there.

I'd love for more indie developers to make Animal Crossing inspired games, since it's a genre that so Japan focused.

There's a kickstarter up now for Pumpkin Online, which is a farming MMO that uses the online interactability and customizability in a similar vain to New Leaf. It's also fairly adorable!

I remember there was also this game in the making called Tailor Tales, which was about being a town's tailor, but I don't think the project was ever finished.

Anyways, talk about Animal Crossing-like games and how you'd like this genre expanded!

This looks like it's going to be Animal Crossing mixed with Harvest Moon, Cooking Mama, and has rpg elements. I'm realllllllllllly excited about it!

BAhaha no it's fine! I'm so glad this is being brought over for a western audience! I remember seeing it a year ago, when it was a Japan exclusive and I was so excited about it! I was nervous it wouldn't be localized.

Rune Factory is in a similar vein as Harvest Moon, but with fighting and taming monsters as well. I know some people like to focus on one aspect of the game but I play it at a leisurely pace (similar to ACNL), doing a little bit of everything at once.
