Hi

I'm a sort of new member to this forums. I look regularly in the subforum "new neighbour network".

There I saw that many people want villagers they adopt to be "original". From what I know that means they haven't been gifted furniture, fish, bugs, clothes.... My question is why do people find it so important? My villagers have fish and bugs in their house and I think it's kind of cool that they display what you gave them (as a gift or as a request). Is it just a matter of personal preference wanting villagers to be 100% original? Or does it have benefits?

Thanks in advance

I believe it's just personal preference, I think some people just like their villagers to have the catchphrase, home, and outfits that the game intended them to to make them feel more "authentic." Personally, I love gifting my villagers stuff, I think it makes it feel like that villager has made a home on my island, when they're "original" it feels to me like they're being kept in a museum lol

Personal preference. There's been stories of people who adopted villagers and they have been given clothes that clash with their looks and you can remove the clothes from the rotation but it takes a while and run the risk of ruining their house.

It's personal preference. They feel like a villager's house illustrates the kind of character they are or something. House interior has changed over time for different villagers from game to game. Some kept a similar enough look, however.

In my experience, I've wanted original villagers because I know that they don't have any clothing I don't like. My main worry is that they are going to wear something that doesn't fit their personality and I can never get rid of it (since the Isabelle reporting doesn't work). I know some people also just like for them to always be original, and some people also just don't want them to resemble where they lived or the owner the villager had before. It's just up the buyer.
