That's good to know. I hate going into Curlos's house and hearing whatever awful song he keeps playing in there. It hurts my ears.
Anyway, I don't think anyone's being purposefully hostile. I think some of us just don't get it. Although, when you put it in perspective of people paying 40 mil for a villager, it helps me understand a bit more. I guess my thing is just that, even if you get a villager as an original, how long is it going to stay like that? Eventually things are going to change. Even with a villager like O'Hare. You may get him original, and the day after he moves in, he changes his shirt. It's just not something you can really prevent in the long run.
No, actually, that's the thing. It's
way easier to maintain them in their "original" states than restoring them from a duckie shirt and a room full of sea bass. Believe me. It's 1000x easier. I've had O'Hare as a random move in in my old town, and he has kept his original shirt until I moved him out from that town due to reset. He was in that same shirt for 6 in-game months. In IRL time, that would be... well, 6 months. He only changed his clothes after he was in my friend's town for a while. And if you want your villagers' furniture to stay the same, just don't send them furniture, fill your Re-Tail with 999,999 priced stuff so they don't sell their stuff, etc etc. I know a friend who does this. She likes their furniture the way they are and so she takes precautions on keeping it the same. I've kept Diana's house original all this while, for example. I don't even try, she just stays like that. Which lends proof that villagers are easier to keep as is than restoring them from a house full of evil sea bass.
So yes, people who prefer them in their original states obviously know how to keep them that way and so prefer to receive them as such. Especially when they are building themed towns and adopted villagers with furniture for that matched that theme (food theme as an example).
It's actually pretty preventable depending on your play style--which is the play style of the people asking them to be original. If you're the type to give your beloved villagers all they ask--ugly furniture, sea bass, duckie shirts, then it's understandable that this type of thing is weird to you. But having such a preference doesn't make you stupid, so the same goes for these other people too.
Did you know you can change a villager's music on their stereo by sending them a wrapped song!! I did it by accident once, assuming the villager would display the album, and now I do it on purpose whenever I really don't like a song XD
Yeah, I only picked 3 of the villagers in my town...one was from my campsite, one was from my friend, and the other was for free from somebody on Tumblr. Everyone else is a random. I got pretty lucky with some of them, but I also have such loved villagers as Harry and Truffles (who I then ended up getting attached to and protective of anyway :|) I get why people pay a gazillion bells for villagers, and I guess why people get really into making or keeping their villagers a certain way, but it's definitely not for me.
OKAI WOW, I am changing Mira's song to something superhero-ish. 8D THANK YOU FOR THIS INFORMATION. I can't wait though--now I can send her her cute stereo back.
Yeah, I got lucky with most of my top tier villagers too. The only villager I legitimately bought is Marshal. Everyone else came from lots of resetting and pure luck and friendship. Tangy was a starter. <3 Also, Truffles is awesome, yes, protect the truffles. But don't send them sea bass, okai? Okai.
I'm in the middleground on this. I'd like to keep some villagers' furniture the same, but I don't care about others'. I care about certain villagers' clothes, but others not so much. So I get how both sides feel. xD
