Ore furniture??

You can only use gold ore to make furniture.

The others are used to make similarly-colored furniture look crystalline. It looks... ok, I guess.

Here's some examples of my main room; It's polka dot set in amethyst with blue cloth:

they're a little old, but my main room is basically the same. Hopefully that gives you an idea. I like it a lot^^

I have a few pieces of furniture covered in the ores, I think some look nice but others don't :/
you can hand in 3 pieces of gold ores for a random gold ore furniture^^

Its really cool to have a whole golden theme room plus you get a lot of HRA points

You can also use silver ore to redo the polka dot set and... I think the modern set? maybe more, I don't know. I'm not into the gems on furniture but the gold and silver versions can be cool. A friend of mine has golden toilets, that's pretty hysterical. (See it here.)
