ore coming out of normal rock?

i just hit a rock in my town to look for money, but instead, several ore came out of it instead of money. has this ever happened to anyone else or is it just a glitch?

Yeah same, it only ever happened to me once with my silver shovel and there was like 2 golden nuggets so I was happy with it. I don’t think it happens that often because I have the welcome amiibo and I bought it like 1 and a half years ago. I don’t really care though, it doesnt get you that much bells anyway so yeah.

Oh wow I forgot that can happen with silver shovel! I only had it for a day on my main mayor until I got my gold shovel ages ago. Good thing I read through the comments in this thread so I know the fastest way to earn more ore.
