Lurking just tells me that you have an interest in getting a villager; if I have them and they go in boxes then I usually leave you a VM letting you know they're ready to leave. Reserving is actually getting a villager saved for you so you don't have to worry about other people adopting that villager.

And usually I want adoptees to have an open spot already when they want to adopt someone off of my cycling thread, but if you don't then I give you 10 minutes to try and make a open spot.
