hiii!
so for my new town Vonbelle, i was wondering if i should plot reset.
basically, if you didn't know, plot resetting is where you place paths all over your town to prevent your villagers from moving there. after you place all the paths down, you erase the paths where you want your villagers to move in.

this process takes about 2 hours for me, to place the paths all over my town.

my town Vonbelle is going to be a town based off the colors blue, purple, and pink.

should i plot reset, or have the villagers move wherever naturally?

thank you so much!

I think it's up to you. You should do whatever makes you the happiest.

I didn't plot reset at first, but all of the villagers started placing their houses as close to mine as they could get and when that area was full, they plopped down in other inconvenient areas. So I started plot resetting to fix it because I was tired of walking out of my house and running right smack into a villager's house just 3 steps from my door. If they spread themselves out more randomly, I would have been happy to let them move in naturally, but they didn't do that.

If you don't mind letting them move wherever they want, then it's definitely easier that way. Plot resetting can be frustrating for some people. Or you could just place paths down in off-limit places that you definitely don't want a villager house and let them move in naturally in larger designated areas.

But if it would bother you if the houses weren't properly aligned or if a villager randomly stuck their house right in front of your own or in front of a bridge or something, then plot resetting is definitely the way to go.

I've tried both ways before, going natural and plot resetting. Basically, before the amiibo update I let villagers of Tinytree plot anywhere because I was too lazy to plot reset (back when they still plot on paths). My town also felt TINY because of how big and winding my river was, and it was definitely not to my benefit that villagers plot everywhere without thinking, even blocking off potentially nice areas for PWPs with their awkward spacing. However, I was going for a "natural forest town" back then, so I just tried my best to work around their placement with winding dirt paths of my own. Now that I've had experience with both, I definitely prefer plot resetting! I plot reset for the entirety of Borei's landscaping and that became the most successful town I've built. I also went back into Tinytree recently to change my entire theme so I decided to lay paths everywhere and fix some of those badly placed villagers with plot resetting for my 2 new villagers.

Anyways, if you're not too keen on plot resetting and you want them to plot naturally for the most part, you can opt to just block of some areas that you might not want villagers, unless they are planned. The "off-limit" places like LadyDestani said! For me these are:
- Spots for potential bridges (on both sides)
- Entrance ways and the perimeter of houses and buildings
- Entrance to train station
- In front of the slope to the beach
- My potential location for police station and camper

Good luck with whatever method you choose!

thank you so much for your input on things @dizzy and @destani~

No problem and yep, it's because I am a moderator! You could change the colour of your user title though (the part that says Junior Member) with an add-on from the shop :)
