Opinions on “ugly villagers”?

So what do you guys think of the term “ugly villagers”? I personally have the feeling a lot of the ac community is extremely picky when it comes to villagers (nothing wrong with that) and there are so many villagers considered ugly. It’s a bit unfortunate because many “ugly villagers” are actually really cool and some even good looking.

Do you have a villager that’s considered ugly by the community that you really like?

For me it would be Truffles. I invited her as one of my first 5 (I just invited whoever I came across lol) and she’s one of my favorite villagers. It’s just something about her design and peppy personality that makes her really enjoyable lol.
Although I can see why she isn’t a dreamie of many people.

I think it's more the design isn't very flattering to certain species like penguins and koalas.

They are gorgeous IRL, but look like the north end of a south-bound cow in the game.

Theres so many ugly villagers I want. SO. MANY. I wish I could have a second island for them; they're my guilty pleasures that I want so bad but a lot of my current villagers are ones that mean a lot to me, so I dont want to replace them with new ones. (Any villager with funny eyebrows or a bowl cut I am instantly in love with, including truffles!)

The community hates my boi Chops... and all pig species really... but he's adorable and I love him <3 because of that I've been more accepting of more "ugly" villager.

There’s ugly cute (Katt) and then there’s just flat out ugly (Bella). I don’t know. It all comes down to preferences, I guess. But there are really certain villagers I can’t stand. I personally don’t like most of the hippos, mice and gorillas. Not a fan.

I think what's special about AC is the fact that no matter how unpopular a islander is, some will always mesh with people and be special to them. I found myself loving many 'ugly' islanders that I liked through random move-ins and such and sometimes I bond with them more than I expected. ( Sometimes to the point where I get really sad after I've already given them permission to move out. )

I like almost all koalas personally haha The penguins are also cute.

I really didn't want Canberra, but when I got my own Switch and island, she was my assigned sisterly. I really like her in person. She's pretty darn cute in reactions and personalty.

I was villager shopping yesterday and Lyman popped up on one of the mystery islands. Both my husband and daughter really liked him. I actually didn't find him so bad either.

Overall, I really like the koalas and pigs. Others don't, apparently.

ETA: I'm actually thinking about buying Canberra's Amiibo card since it's so cheap. That way after she leaves I can bring her back to visit anytime.

I ofc have also certain Villagers I find unpleasant looking, like Freckles or Moose. Their design is so off-putting that I can’t concentrate on their Personality. Yeah, I’m also a human being which can’t just love everything. I can tolerate other opinions, but I can’t force myself to like something someone else might like. It’s only natural.

But through the time I found out that I seem to like more Villagers than I actually hate. I find a lot of Crankies and Jocks very interesting, including some terrifying ones like Jitters (which is one of the most hated Villagers). And Merengue - which I thought is a Dreamie - turned out super boring for me, even if it’s just the Normal Personality.

Nobody can like every villager and I’m glad that people do have so many different opinions on Villagers. My Sister has 2 Pigs and one of them is Truffles and she loves her a lot. Then she doesn’t like Rocket. And she is also one of those People which would like Ankha or Julian. So a mixed Bag.

For me, I try to circle through Villagers to get a lot of Photos and now I currently have Elvis on my Island. Before that I had Hopper. And I also will try to get Axel someday. All no Dreamies, but I really don’t care. I want to try to encounter a lot of different Villagers.

And for Species, I don’t have many Problems with the Lions. I like almost all of them.

People say Moose is ugly. I don't understand. I think the mice villagers aren't remotely popular, anyway. But Moose? His facial expression screams, "You're kidding, right?" Oh well.

I like Moose. Wasn't a fan of him at first, but after having him in a New Leaf town he grew on me. I do feel like there are parts of the community who treat "ugly" villagers (or even low tier villagers in general) really harshly. Of course I understand having opinions about villagers, but if when someone says they like a villager, your first reaction is always "Eww they're trash," that makes you kind of unpleasant to be around.

I like Gaston. I've never had him, but I know about him because he's on the cover of the GameCube Animal Crossing game.

I've seen Katt show up on a few ugliest lists, but she's one of my most desired villagers personally. The fangs are adorable!

I think Gaston is cute ; normally, I wouldn’t like his mustache but I think it suits him. I honestly can’t imagine Gaston without that stache.
