Opinions on Tom Nook

Why did you change the thread title and content? It makes alot of these posts seem off topic...

I don't care about how good or bad of a guy he is, I just enjoy his dialog in the NH tutorial. I think he's funny. And, based on my interaction with him on May Day, sweet.

I’ve been living in my fully expanded house for months and haven’t paid a cent from my last loan but Tom still treats me so well. He’s not even charging interest. Are you kidding? Where will you find a realtor like that in the whole universe? Nowhere. It’s only Tom. He’s the best. Ever.

Interest free loan with an indefinite amount of time to repay? Dude is a saint. I wish he had more involvement, but perhaps as time goes by.

I appreciate the video with the history behind... both animals in folktale deceive humans... exactly. Hes deceiving!! That is exactly what I get from him.. but the fact that jwitz is talking as if his opinion is mine just doesnt sit well with me... it's just his opinion but a lot of what he was talking as if his opinions were valid facts and I just have a different perspective... as for tom nook I see right thru him.. just because this guy thinks redd and the otter guy are worse than tom doesnt make tom any better... the otter is working for tom nook doesnt make tom nook a good guy just for giving people jobs..if anything I see that as the bad guys working together... I dont really see anything good about him still even after watching the entire video lol and I'm really confused about his relationship with the able sister that was really confusing
I mean the interest free loan he gives is very generous, I mean he does force they first loan on you, but how else are you going to live there without some basics? I think I recall him taking about that he gives a lot of his profit to charity as well or donates it which shows that he is not very greedy, just wants enough to break even maybe profit a little bit and help others which is nice. He had a rough history with his business failing and everything which makes me feel for him and now he just wants to settle down in a small town and help others which I find respectable. With him giving the job to otter guy, It could be him telling him to force insurance but I think it's just the otter trying his best to make a sale. I do not think it was that much for insurance anyway (could be wrong)

I think hes deceiving you... the interest free loan is a sales tactic to get him money.. ("as if we have a choice") hes like a car salesman... he could be lieing about donating to charity...

I mean I guess it could be a sales tactic but it shows a lot of trust for the buyers and is extremely generous. He very well could be lying about donating to charity but I mean that's what Nintendo decided for his lore to be so I believe he probably does considering he had a rough past with his business.

I geuss hes a chil realtor.. I'll give him that but hes still taking all my money and that's what hes after it seems. My bells.. . I wonder who took all his old house.... and why

Btw I edited all my replies to u js

All your loans are stated to be at-cost of labor/materials for the actual expansion, and he never hounds you so he is out money til you pay up. Heck, the first loan he lets you pay off in Miles...a currency that literally only has value on the island, with him, and he can't use elsewhere. So it's essentially free.

Tom is a saint.

Yeah I mean there is no other way to expand your house in the game except for him but you aren't forced to buy from him, only the first loan which does not even cost money (bells)

He gives you a bunch of nook miles tasks to which can keep you busy on your island life, giving you something to do if you want to and he even rewards you by giving you free stuff for it like furniture, clothes, etc..

he's an opportunistic capitalist that makes you do all his dirty work for nothing. he was the devil in the original animal crossing, this is all a facade. he is manipulating you. do not trust his lies
I knew it V_V I really dont wanna be manipulated

I mean he does make you do a bit of the work yourself finding where to place things and getting materials at the start of the game but it the materials weren't that bad to get and it gives you freedom of where you want to place your buildings, inclines, stairs etc... Yeah in the first game he made you work for him, but he was giving you a chance to earn money from being a newcomer with probably no bells to your name (just like in new horizons) The tasks weren't that hard anyway, just some delivery from what I remember

i loved him in the original gamecube. he was quirky and shady. but still generous but with a motive to help himself out

I like him, precisely BECAUSE he has this shady side and shady past (Redd, etc). He could make me collect bells for the rest of my AC life and I'd enjoy it. ;)
