Opinions on PETA’s vegan guide to animal crossing?

PETA are the opposite of animal activists and should not be viewed as a joke, but as a dangerous organization. They kill the animals they save and latch onto any real animal rights victories and claim it was them. One of their believes is all dogs and cats would be better dead than being pet. Insane nut jobs that should be disbanded and never reform.

I'm a vegetarian not a vegan but back when I was starting out (I'm old), I found their resources helpful. I think I had a cookbook of theirs that included recipes from Paul McCartney (love him!) and his late wife, Linda.

I haven't paid much attention to PETA in recent decades and there are more resource organizations and publications now so no one has to pay them any attention if they don't want to. I thought the Animal Crossing article was funny. I mean, it's ridiculous but it was probably written to get attention and free advertising and it succeeded, so there's that.

PETA has done some really terrible things and actually has a horrific track record of animal abuse, despite how much they like to put on an "animal rights" front. So I'd have to agree with some others here that their Animal Crossing guide was likely done just to generate controversy and bring them attention/possible revenue (I know they've done similar things with Pokemon and Cooking Mama in the past), so I certainly won't be giving them any.

As a vegatarian not from USA, I don't know much about peta, but this article just seems silly to me. I don't know why people are reacting to this so intensely?

I also must say that while I think you should do whatever you want in this game, since its not real and no one can get harmed or whatever, from a philosophical/ethical standpoint I think its really interesting subject to talk/think about.

In the recent years there have been some discussions (mostly amongst philosophers) about at what point artificial intelligence is actually worth an ethical treatment. In this case in ACNH that's also an interesting concept to think about.
Like with trading villagers, bullying ugly villagers, catching creatures, and putting those creatures in small cages.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying any of this is unethical or wrong but from a philosophical and ethical standpoint I don't think it hurts to think about it. Or at least be aware of it.

What I want to know is how anyone who follows this "guide" is supposed to enjoy their museum if you arent supposed to catch fish and bugs.

I'm not vegan in the least bit but wouldnt this game actually be a safe way of experiencing something you are unable to, since nothing is actually being harmed?
This tbh. I am vegan and I love that games like Animal Crossing and Stardew valley let me live my rural fisherman/sailor dreams while no fish are actually harmed

this is just ridiculous. i remember seeing this for the first time and thought this had to be a joke because this is so dumb. aside from this i hate peta in general, they make vegans look bad and im not even vegan. who the hell wrote this and why lol
