Hi! I'm sorry if there is already a thread regarding this but I would like to get opinions in regards to paths.

Are paths worth having? When looking for a path, what do you look for?

I am trying to do an Autumn themed town but I seem to have trouble finding the right path for my town due to not being sure of what would be best in it.

Another question I have is whether or not a nature like path is better than a patterned one.

Any opinions in response to this is greatly appreciated.

For a long time I didn't use them, but I experimented and ended up loving how they complemented my town.

I have stepping stones for the more natural areas and white brick walkways. In your case, a more natural look may suit your theme better, but play around with it! There are plenty of paths made by talented people on Tumblr and Pinterest - that's where I found mine.

I am a big fan of dirt paths. In my opinion they only work if you're going for a natural looking town though. If you have modern looking PWPs and permenant buildings (like the town hall remodel or the modern police station) then I think using pattern pathways would be better. Most towns that use pattern paths really successfully are the ones that have less diagonal paths (because the square shape is awkward looking near diagonally placed bridges) and more straight paths. I think 2-square thick paths are must and one with nice grass trimmings on the side are helpful in blending into the ground, because some patterns might look really stiff just being a square. You can also find QR patterns that look like flower beds and waterways to make it more natural looking, although I think this works best for fully covered towns.

If you want to check out a town with some dirt paths, I think my town Tinytree is pretty decent!(DA in signature). For pattern pathed towns I recommend Crystal (4C00-0012-3E90), Oranvle (7E00 006D BDE1), and Vista (5E00-0011-4E6E). They are non-hacked to my knowledge.

I recently built my dream suite so I will be sure to check out your town. I am leaning more towards natural kind of paths but my only gripe is finding something that blends in well with the grass as well as finding patterns for each season and that only can be a mission.

I was looking at the stepping stones as that is what I am leaning more towards but finding the right one for the time of year is a little hard for me. I am using ACNL Paths on tumblr as they have a huge selection and I have tested out a few on their paths but I don't know what it is, they just don't mesh with my town :/

I think paths are a great way to spice up your town if dirt paths are too time consuming and doesn't fit your aesthetic. I personally really like stepping stone paths and also water paths. Stepping stones are good for forest-y towns. Water paths really just depends on what kind of town you have. Some water paths are lined with stones others lined with grass. I also like brick stone paths for fairy tale towns as well. There are so many ways you can use paths really!

i have paths only so i cal plan things out. then it will be turned into stepping stones. paths work well with certain town themes but also personal preference.

I agree the that stepping stone paths are beautiful and can leave room for a water pathways and I think an autumn themed town would benefit greatly with a foresty kind of feel in paths (:

Same here, it helps being able to plan how everything will fit and if it will have a good flow. I'd like to have paths so I am able to make PR a lot easier but maybe my town is better off without paths ?\_(ツ)_/?

Im patiently waiting for a road pattern bundle of 24, hopefully it will be done tommorow. (Then I can continue building my town up to be Splatoon themed :3)
