Pokémon Opinion on the Unova Elemental Monkeys?

I think they're all right, I like Pansage, Pansear, and Panpour all equally, but the evolutions are a different story. Simisage is my favorite of the three and is actually my favorite grass-type from the Unova region. Simisear is okay, it's grown on me a little bit. I've never liked Simipour though.

I like the designs of the pre-evolution monkeys, they're really cute imo. Their evolutions though...... it's a hard pass lmao.

The Elemental Monkeys entire existence was for the Element triangle tutorial in Black and White. Thats it. Even their HAs are the starter abilities. It is quite sad when I think about it because I really like Panpour. In B2W2, their existence is even more unnecessary because Cilan and Bros arent gym leaders anymore. Case in point. They exist now because they exist and have to face competition from pure types that can do their job but better. And so...outside of B/W, the Elemental Monkeys are terrible. They are useless in competitive because..again they face a lot of competition. Simipour is probably the best of the 3 because of its typing alone. Give it a Timid nature + Life Orb or Choice Specs and thats about all you can really do.

this is soooo cute.... i love hearing details about what goes into pokemon designs thank you for sharing i wonder what the thought process was for the evolutions' designs now, since they don't give anything close to that cooking help vibe
