So recently I have come across a path I am going to put in my town.

My question is, do you guys think paths look okay without the borders? I feel that paths with borders take up waaay to much pattern space (9 spaces)! SO I was thinking of using this path without the borders! I am unsure on how it looks though.... I have laid a few down as an example and do you guys think this looks okay without having borders around it?

I like the one displayed with borders better, but that really doesn't matter-- just go with the one you like best...

i could see both working well depending on the surroundings, the one with borders has that small garden coziness, the one without looks like its going to be part of something bigger like a brick plaza or patio...

I prefer paths with borders plus the tiles for turning corners - looks a lot better. I keep my paths to a min, 2 tiles wide with not too many corners - so doesn't encroach too much on space.
Little used paths are one tile wide - and usually without a border, but main paths yeah bordered.

Depends on the path tho -some of the natural stepping stone paths look better borderless.
Your pics - I prefer the border with the cream roses than the plain brown border - I don't know, its entirely personal preference, its your town!

I'm the same as you. I prefer to use less space in the pattern slots because I don't want to create multiple characters to hold my stuff. I think it looks fine without the borders, but it looks better with them. However, I voted for without because of the space. It really does look fine either way

I personally prefer the path with borders. It makes it look completed and neat and it looks super cute. :) If the pattern storage is annoying you, you could always try and make a new character.

Wasn't going to post, but I accidentally voted with instead of without. I prefer this path as shown without borders, though some borders can look nice. So -1 the with votes and +1 the without, in your head. :)

I think if your paths are thicker/wider with the brick it'll look really good, but that's just me.
I like the bordered one a little more than the unbordered bc it ticks my OCD

I prefer the borders but I am like you. I hate using up more design spaces!! So what I suggest to do is to use flowers, trees and bushes as your "borders" instead. It will still look nice!

Oh and I also meant that I like both but I'd only be able to use the unbordered with w wider path idea haha.

Paths without borders make me feel like the towns a little empty if you get what I mean, and it makes the path seem less secure. I'm sure if you use some bushes though, it'll look great without the borders. That's jut me personally though, I like paths to seem secure and crowded if that makes sense, i'm not really into spacious areas or areas that feel spacious. Without borders it usually reminds me of what you put in the middle of paths to fill in any part of the path that doesn't have a corner.

Thanks guys! I've chosen a different path altogether now! Going for borders and I'll just have to live with having no space left in my pattern tab!

I guess it's personal preference really, or what you're using the pattern for.
For paths, I definitely think they look better with boarders. It separates them from the grass more :)

But if you want, say a huge area, or paths wider than 1 patten, it's nice to have the paths without borders too, so you can make the paths wider if you need to :D

Honestly, they both look interesting. The borders could make intersections look funny, but otherwise looks better in a line than the normal brick to me personally.

Hiya. I think it depends on how you use those paths. Right now the borderless paths dont look so great when compared to the ones with borders because there is nothing around them. But if you align your paths with something like trees and/or bushes the borderless edges won't be so noticeable and will actually look just as good (if not better) as the bordered paths.

I agree that paths with borders take up a lot of space, and sometimes we don't want a second player profile on our game! I personally like it both ways depending on the pattern itself. Like if it's brick then it could do without a border but if it's like an average all pink one than maybe.

It's up to you what you all like! Don't let others change your mind. This game isn't about pleasing others with aesthetics.

I like the look of the bordered path but I also hate that it takes up way too much space in my patterns for my liking. I tend to use paths that don't have to rely on the use of a border like complicated simple tile paths that only take up 2 spaces. Besides, if you put up trees and bushes lining your path, having a border doesn't make a difference cause you wouldn't be able to see the border anyway. I personally use every pattern space for PWPs like the signs and face-standees (not counting interior designs) so having a path that had borders didn't make sense for me.

It really depends on what you like the best, though. :)

I agree with what sailor said completely! I prefer to have borderless paths myself since I am obsessed with qr clothing very often. I think bushes would help give it that polished finished as well as save you the space in your pattern inventory. The bordered path does look nice as well, though!

Did you know that once you place a pattern on a custom sign or standee, you are free to use that pattern slot for something else? I think you have to have the pattern in question stored at the Able Sisters', but once it's on the PWP, you can stop carrying it around. :D I love that feature! It frees up more space for path patterns, although I do agree that it's bothersome that bordered paths take up so many slots.
