im a fan of kpop and was wondering who else is also a fan/wondering the opinions of those outside the fandom itself.
( note: kpop is not just Psy ^^; )

well my friend is a huge kpop fan and she made me listen to exo, and that's pretty much the only kpop group i listen to regularly. other than that i listen to a few songs by other groups. it's okay but it's not my favourite genre.

Yea I know a bit more than that. But personally I think it is bland and most acts are the same genre if you are into those boy/girl bands. I don't mind older stuff like Pearl Sisters and such though.

Depends. You can't just judge a Genre because of 1 song. I'm really indifferent to it. I really hate Gangnam Style, but I love Gentleman. And of course, 2NE1 is awesome. So yeah, it depends.

yeah i agree ^^ many songs sound similar and lots of groups go through the same routines of teasers and dancing and starring in dramas and so on. my personal favorite group is shinee; ive been their fan for 3 years just about. i also really like 2NE1 and Girls Generation. Boa and TVXQ! are also a bit older artists i dont mind.

i used to be really into it in high school, but not so much anymore.
a few of my favorites were SHINee, B2ST, & 2pm

yea and they follow the same formulas for pop music.. so yeah too bland and rnb-pop for me. only good modern song is snsd's oh!.. lol

yeah theyre very formulated and cookie cutter i think. one idol being 2 pounds over the weight the company wants them to be- diet (aka dont eat for a week). popular member? drama for you!

theres some groups im not very fond of like BAP or Vixx, but ill listen to them if i got to. im really into pop music so its my thing ^^

I was a massive fan until around 2009/10 but much more causal now. I'm more interested in the business side of their music industry rather than the artists themselves. I was huge on DBSK - I guess my love of Korean pop died with the lawsuit which resulted in Micky, Hero, and Xiah leaving the group. But I still follow Hero's career: he's turned to rock now and it's amazing.

I did see BIGBANG live in December 2012 though. The energy they have live is immense - it's a much different atmosphere to hearing any UK/US pop or rock artists. :)

yeah i used to be just like madly in love with shinee and their every living breathing action or word and i wanted everything i owned to have their logo, endorsement or faces on it lol, but now im pretty casual too.

i have 2 shinee posters and a boa and a g dragon one in my room now, but until i get more frames i cant put up my teen top one or my other one which i dont even remember lol. but yeah, i read about DBSK's breaking up and i even thought it was pretty sad. i still do like TVXQ though, theyre wonderful performers ^^

i know Arirang!!! its funny cause most trot songs sound really silly (to me at least)

Depends, I like Girls Generation but I go for more "Adult groups" because they have more artistic expression such as Brown eyed girls and Sunny Hill. I've also gotten into more of the softer side of korean music, Humming Urban Stereo is a must!

Were you not a fan at the time of the lawsuit? It was frustrating being a fan at that time: wanting the group to stay together out of selfishness; but at the same time knowing that those who were taking legal action against the company were doing so for all the right reasons. I've only listened to 2-3 songs by them since they became a duo.

When I was 17/18 I had posters of DBSK & G-Dragon on my walls. I recall my ex nagging me to take a particular one down because one of Yunho's nipples were visible and it creeped him out. :p

nah i didnt become a kpop fan til aug 2011 when my friend played clap your hands by 2NE1 for me (: i understand how frustrating it would be, definitely would be feeling selfish if shinee broke up like that too :(

I don't like it.
At all.
Too... Hyperactive? I don't know what it is about it, I just do not like it.
Maybe it is because Koreans make it Kidding, kidding...

some groups i agree with this about, like.. too cutesy or a little too upbeat?? im not sure. thats the reason i like very little JPOP too ^^;

my friend absolutely loves it. I don't listen to it much, but from what i've heard of when I've been around her it sounds pretty neat - but I listen to songs for the emotional meaning so I don't think I'd ever get into K-pop

Actually, I'm only really into YG. I love Tablo (*u*), 2NE1 (which really has helped me through a lot), and BigBang. I used to listen to 2AM, SS501, and some songs from Korean Dramas I watch. For some reason, I never got into Shinee..
