We all know theres a lot wrong with NH and lot we’d like to see changed.

But I was wondering if you could only change ONE thing about the game, what would it be and why?

For me it would be tools breaking. It’s the main reason I don’t bother fishing, bug catching or digging up fossils anymore. I feel like I don’t play the game very much because I’ve finished decorating and I don’t want to fish or bug catch because of how annoying the tools breaking are.

Windows not getting affected whenever you change the wallpaper. I start to really dislike the fact that windows changing their shape, look or disappearing completely depending what wallpaper you use. I would prefer it more if the design and existence of the windows can be decide on your own.

I think tools breaking is fine and kinda fun.
Do wish golden tools didn't break though. Would make the year long quest to get them feel better.

I cant really think of much I would change about the game. There are things I would add though.

The main thing I want from the game is to be able to play mini games with friends.
Not really much reason to visit your friends islands which is a shame.

So if that counts, that's my one thing.

While tools breaking is a bit of a bother, especially with regards to the golden tools, I can live with it. While the furniture sets from the previous games being missing is sorely felt, I can be patient and hope that at least some of it will come in the future (and be disappointed if it doesn't happen by the time all is said and done) and I can live with that too. I'd also really love the return of mini games, since as Moritz said, there's nothing to really do together with friends in this game, but I'm also hoping that will be an eventual addition.

But if there was one change they could make right now? For the love of all that is good, let us fill a cart at the Able Sisters shop. It's such a tedious, time consuming pain as it is right now.

I would change how flowers work in NH to how they were in older games. It makes sense, for a game with more of an emphasis on decoration, to make it so your flowers didn't completely disintegrate if you ran over them/accidentally shoveled them, but if you're trying to breed a certain colour or it's just been a rainy/snowy day, you get an excess of flowers you really don't need that take longer to dispose of.

I'm more on top of getting rid of flowers after a rainy day, but if you're not they spread like wildfire.

If it was a QoL change I'd probably vote for shopping carts for all stores in the game with number adjustments like you get at Daisy Mae. But the 5 catalog item orders per day is REALLY handicapping for those who don't TT and should just be removed.

There are a lot of things I agree with that have already been mentioned (in particular golden tools breaking, the 5 item ordering limit and the hassle of purchasing many items at the Able Sisters) so going for something different the one thing I'd change would be the amount of dialogue of certain NPCs - looking at seagulls and dodos mostly - some of it just seems to go on forever and is really repetitive when you've heard it about 100 times.

Bulk buying/crafting. I dont know why they don't allow bulk.

Tools breaking doesnt bother me that much but it is kinda stupid the gold ones break. The iron ones are more useful because you can customize them to reset the count while the gold ones you cant.

There's a lot, so it may be hard to narrow it down...After trying to consider, it would have to be down to

TERRAFORMING System

Terraforming is extremely slow. Waterscaping is so hard (form at least) to make natural looking. I may spend most my time terraforming so the one thing that would effect me the most is a better terraforming.

Imagine a Terraforming+ mode where you enter a sky view of the town and you can instantly move houses, buiild/move bridges/inclines, build cliffs, and water. Then Tom Nook will give you a bill depending on how much is being changed. You pay Lyoid the bill, or pay Tom Nook through ABD like with the house payments, and at 5am the next day, the magic happens.

If that is too much to ask for, the second biggest thing that effects gameplay is the Town Hall location. Let us move it!

Less reliance on trading to collect stuff! I hate that the colour of my airport restricts me from getting different furniture variants. It just feels money-grubbing on Nintendo's part, and has always left a bad taste in my mouth. It just sort of sucks to be punished for preferring solo play :(

One thing is hard to choose! Tools not breaking is a good one, especially golden tools. Yesterday I got the golden shovel recipe and I didn't even get excited about it.

Interior windows is also a good one! Seems like a step backward for custom wallpapers to not have any windows... and many of the windowless wallpapers make the room too dark.

My biggest problem in the game is actually pathing and flowers. Maybe more custom design slots or a faster way to remove flowers or keep them from growing back.

An auction house would be a dream.

I guess ultimately I would most like more custom design slots, plus more customization options (like let us design pants, socks, long sleeved short dresses, etc) and maybe larger pro designs for floors/walls so it doesn't have to take up 4 slots.

I agree with a bunch of things posted here, to varying degrees. Of course I think some things bother me more than others - ie: tools breaking isn't THAT big of a deal to me, but it's still annoying.
Also I would really, really, love a top-down view for terraforming, like JKDOS is describing. I mean any kind of improvement to terraforming would make me happy haha.

I think the thing that has overall driven me the most nuts during this game, is the lack of items and the lack of ability to get them. We have to rely on decorating outside sooooo much but I mean, there just isn't enough choice. And as Cloudandshade said, I find it absolutely brutal that trade is sooooo necessary to get access to items. I had to trade just to catalog pretty much all orderables and I still feel like the catalog is pretty barren. ):

The biggest thing I would change is Tom Nook's "What should I do?". Ever since you completed your island Tom Nook barely has anything else for you to do just the usual "I have nothing better else for you to do". I would change that to where Tom Nook actually tells you to do stuff and if you do it you can get different rewards rather than just relying on Nook Miles. The rewards could be Bells, Materials, Furniture, Clothing, or anything that could be useful when you're doing what Tom Nook says. It would always be different everyday and it will give a reason for talking to him more.

My one thing I would change is having a separate storage for flowers, trees and bushes. I would love them to add a greenhouse you can get for nook miles. It would make changing out my flowers and bushes so much easier if I could store the ones I don’t need instead of trying to hide them at the back of my island.

This is actually something that has kind of bothered me. The "What should I do?" option remains indefinitely even though all it will do is give you a "There's nothing left to do" response. At the very least, I'd like the option to be removed after getting 3-stars.

Just let me craft or buy multiple things at once. It would make it so much easier and take up so much less time. I refuse to make fish bait because it’s just too tedious.

Everyone has such good ideas! I particularly love the tops down terraforming idea and getting extra quests from Tom Nook. I didn’t realise just how much I ignore him theses days. It’s be great to have a reason to talk to him daily.
