Anyway, what is your opinion on enforcing the One Child Policy into countries becoming overpopulated? As most learned members of this site will know, China has initiated this a long time ago, and whilst it has helped to reduce population, it has also led to millions of abortion cases every year. Also do you think it is right for boys to be given precedence over girls in these situations?

I think it's a bad idea. If family wants to have more than one child, they should be able to.

So you people would allow families to have as many children as they want, even if their country was alread suffering severely from overcrowding, and as a result of that major pollution?

I personally agree with it, but not boys having precedence over girls, that is just plain wrong.

Especially in places like China whose population is very large. Whether you like it or not humans have a carrying capacity, what ever can be done to prevent that from happening should be.

It's not like people are cemented to the ground. For example, if you're born in New Jersey, and you don't like living near so many people (NJ has the population density of India), you could move to Pennsylvania.

These are all short term solutions. What happens when all the lesser populated areas become crowded. Then we are in even more trouble, because the countries that China import food from which are less populated, will not be as willing to sell their food because the demand in their own country would be too great.

Send JB, Miley Cyrus, Jonas Brothers, and all the other bad singers to Canada to live there, and Canada will Overpopulate in no time, then we'll make a deal with Brazil.

More demand just means more incentive to make food (be a farmer, etc.).

Supply and demand.

Population density doesn't have to do with competing over food. If there are more people, there will be more people to make food. The reason people starve is because they live in an area that has no wealth (Caused by inflation, dictatorships, war, etc. Or in some cases, natural reasons).

From a human rights standpoint, I definitely disagree with the policy. Looking at it strictly as a means of population control, however, it is viable... especially if one considers the crazy population increase over the past decade (almost 1 BILLION). The planet's resources will be sapped up very soon if increases continue in the same manner as they have (i.e., exponentially).

Of course, again, from a human perspective, what if somebody wants more than one child? Heck, what if they want to be like that Duggar family? The policy is obviously not ideal, but consider where it is in effect -- China, a country led by the Communist Party. Can you imagine such a policy being put in effect in America? I can't... at least not yet.
