On average how long does it take to invite someone in?

I've been trying to invite Julian in for like 3 hours. I remember reading that I pretty much have to keep at it until he eventually agrees but he's only asked twice within these 3 hours. My in-game time is currently 9:15 PM (same as irl but I don't want to be up all night with this. XD) Would it be possible for me to TT backwards a couple hours and continue trying?

Empty your pockets completely, bells too. Then go in and pin him in the corner and ping questions rapid-fire at him.

Yes, you can TT backwards, but he will be there until 6am, game time.

Well fancy that. I devoid myself of bells and items, ask one more time and he agrees to move in.
I should be expecting a plot in a day or two correct?

I'm having this same issue with Lucky. He keeps saying he would love to live here i invite him & then he says no.... (campsite btw)

Isn't it all luck? You just have to keep going until it happens? Nothing can help it?

If you have less than 10 villagers, they are just playing hard to get. If you keep asking, they will say yes. You really need to be empty of everything in your pocket (especially bells). Sometimes it helps to TT around in the same day (like an hour later) or to go to your island and then ask.

I finally got em in but the pocket thing didn't work bc Lucky wanted to play a game to get in my town so, i stocked my pockets and finally won charades. lol oh well glad that's over

Oh I remember when I had to play games to get campsite villagers to move in.. Julian wanted to play Rock Paper Scissors with me. It was most intense Rock Paper Scissors game I ever played. LOL
