OMG! Why is the campsite so tedious 😭

I just need to vent for a minute. I sorely believe the campsite needs to be fixed. It's nightmarish. I honestly dread going in there because if there's a villager I want on my island I know I could be there for the next half an hour mashing A like back when I moved in Ankha.

This time it was Lolly and it wasn't any better. All I did was mash buttons and play a ton of chance games which I lost almost every one of (to the point where I'm convinced it's rigged) and then when I could finally ask her to move in she rejected my offer over and over and over... arghhh. And then she finally offers to move in but only if I win her game of 25% odds which I lost every single time. And THEN when she finally said ok she picks out my favourite villager to boot out. What the heck! After all that wasted time I still have to reset and do it all over again just so I can still keep my favourite villager!? So I did it all again for even longer and again Lolly picks the same villager even though I reset at the right time before. NIGHTMARE. There's nothing fun or even rewarding about the whole ordeal because all I'm doing is sitting here mashing a button 😭 I mean I didn't feel rewarded when I got Ankha, I felt like half an hour was taken away from me for no reason and I didn't even want to see her face after that. Arghhhhhh.

Anyway thanks for reading my rant, I've had a verrrry long day and as lame as it sounds this actually made me cry. I gave up on Lolly after more than half an hour since I had to go to sleep and I had lost about 20 games in a row. Also sorry if I offended anyone who likes the campsite, I know it's all about RNG and so sometimes it can be a pleasant experience. But what happened to me twice already is just wrong on so many levels.

Just went through this today with Pashmina. The odd thing was, after failing her move-in card game a couple times, she simply offered to move in without me having to win anything.

Edit: Missed the part about you having to reset so that Nook would suggest someone other than your favorite villager. Had Pashmina requested Beau or Rory to move (I don't have eithers photo), then I would have just given up at that point. Thankfully, sort of, she asked Tasha to move, to which I reluctantly obliged.

I went through the same thing with Willow. I wanted her to replace one of my 3 normals, but she always picked the wrong villager. I eventually let her replace Tutu instead because I was so annoyed with playing the card game.

I feel your pain. Campsite resetting can get pretty tedious. The longest I've gone so far was three hours throughout the day to move in Flora. It's exponentially more tedious the fewer villagers that you're alright with letting go. For example, when Flora was moving in, most of my villagers were fairly new, so I hadn't gotten any of their photos.

That sounds awful! Can you get Amiibos in the future so you can avoid that? Other than that, my son told me there are groups of gamers who give away villagers for free, and you get to choose which one you want.

Yeah, it can be very tedious, especially if you want to remove 1 specific villager out of 10. I find it works a bit better if I have several villagers I don't care as much about leaving....

It took me 6 hours of mashing A and so many double picks before my campsite villager (can't even remember who it was, I think it was Samson) picked Merengue!

Omg, 3 hours!?? That is some dedication! I can't believe the game does this, it should really let us pick who to move out.

I do have a couple of Amiibos but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy more of them, I just thought I could have a bit of fun tonight trying to move in a cute new villager LOL. And that sounds awesome, unfortunately I don't have NSO so I'll either just set the time back and try again tomorrow or just move on.

I think all campers should just ask you if you know someone who might be thinking of moving out. I also think that the campers should have more random games and not just that one game.

6 hours oh myyy. And here I am getting upset after half an hour 😅 Hopefully Nintendo does something about this, one day. In my dreams.

Three hours is still less than @Tinkeringbell's experience... now that is a big oof indeed. ;_;

I will say, though, that afterwards, I felt like I was on top of the world and had finally beaten the RNG powers that be when I eventually won the card game and Flora picked the one villager I was looking to let go.

And perhaps I am sadistic, but I like the satisfaction of finding villagers myself via Mystery Islands or the campsite, even though between my S/O and I, we have a couple of Amiibos. 😆 My partner, on the other hand, has already used them to invite three of his permanent villagers and has started working on his fourth Amiibo villager. Island-hopping, especially, gives me stuff to do besides decorating my house or island (which seems to be a big part of New Horizons).

I just really, really, really wanted Merengue gone, so I had some motivation ;-) I also split it, I did an hour in the morning, two in the afternoon and three in the evening on a weekend day, while watching Netflix. I'm not sure, but I may have even made it worse myself by watching Netflix and not paying attention: There may have been a moment where the visitor picked Merengue and I reset the game anyways, though like I said I'm not sure because I was not paying attention (so I left it out of the original comment).

I completely understand! I think there are quite a few things in the game that are just ridiculously tedious, so I feel your pain!

They've probably made it this way to encourage amiibo purchases which are also a pain in the butt to scan in. Why do they torture us so? lol

That's what I'm thinking. But then they don't even have enough Amiibos available for purchase, so then people have to buy from third-party sellers.

And that's where their stupidity sets in. Do they not want to make money or what.

I have Lolly's amiibo if you want her for free!
Thanks for the offer but that's ok! I don't have NSO and anyway Lolly isn't one of my dreamies or anything, I just thought it would be easy to replace someone I didn't like with someone cute. I'm feeling like such a baby right now after all the time others have put into getting campers 😂😂😂

AGREE!!!!! There have been a few I wanted but after an hour gave up on them. I hate the campsite and dread getting someone in there I reallllllllly want because I know I will just frustrate myself. I get that they don't want to make it too easy, but they make it insanely ridiculous!

i have invited one villager aside from the first visitor from the campsite and it was really annoying. i wish it was less tedious

I can kind of see where the developers were coming from though. I don't think the campsite is meant as a way to just fast-track your favourite villagers in ... I think it's designed more as a way for people to interact with villagers they wouldn't normally interact with. They seem to be geared more towards creativity and uniqueness with NH. I bet they looked at the demographic for NL and saw that everybody had Marshal, Whitney, Stitches, Julian, Lolly ... Probably why they ditched so many furniture series too, because they don't want everything to look the same everywhere [although, if that's the case, it backfired. With so LITTLE furniture to use, everyone is forced to use the same stuff and every island ended up looking the same anyway !!] ...

I don't think the developers intentionally made it difficult and frustrating just to annoy everyone, but I think they just didn't want the process to be too easy either ... That's just what I think ...
