I was watching a youtube video and someone was talking about a wedding ring and the Pave is how diamonds are set in a ring (or a type of setting). Due to Pave's glamorous nature, it would make sense if his name was based on something sparkly and glamorous as a diamond ring c:

his page on the animal crossing fandom wiki says that his name might come from “pavão”, which is portuguese for peacock. but honestly, your and @/Captain Jigglypuff’s ideas are both solid and would make a lot of sense as well!
