What makes some villagers more popular/wanted than others? Is it how they look or are some cooler/more fun than others?

It's really just looks, imo.

I mean, one can pretty much say that Bob has the same dialogue and overall "fun" in conversation as Drago, despite being, well, a cat and a dragon-like alligator, respectively, as they both have lazy personalities...

Well i'm not really sure ^_^ but marshal is known for his good looks while other villagers are mostly liked for their personalities. Some people prefer having 1 of each personality in their town. It depends really on if they like the villager or not, there isn't always a specific reason. I don't have much reason to wanting Merengue other than the fact shes cute

Yeah that's pretty much what I thought, I saw a popularity chart on here and that's why I was perplexed. I have Bam and he's a jock and he's really popular. At first I didn't really like the jocks but he does say some really funny things. That's why I was wondering if some were funnier because if so I would want all the funniest characters haha. Some other ones basically just ask me to get them fruit all the time and don't say much, or maybe they just ran out of stuff to talk about lol!

Jocks are awesome ^^ your lucky to have Bam. I feel the most popular villagers are the worst though, when you look at Frita she's really awesome yet not so popular so i'd say it is based more on looks than personality
