Okay... I caved and got an extra physical copy of the game. Do I need to create an additional Nintendo account?

I decided to treat myself for my upcoming quarantined birthday so I ordered a physical copy of the game as I have a spare OG Switch that's pretty much not used at all at this point (I exclusively play on my Lite).
My question is: Will I need to create another Nintendo Account to play AC on the second Switch or can I use my existing one?
I probably won't be starting a new island for some time... I got it more as a collector's item to keep and display but when I eventually do decide to play it, I'd like to know in order to not mess things up.

I don't know if you can play with the same account. I would guess so, but I don't think that's a good idea; if they do end up implementing a save upload/backup feature, it could very well turn out that you could only do that for one of the accounts.

The obvious drawback to this, however, could be that you'd have to buy the silly internet service again if you wanted the other account to do anything online, I think. Though if you have a family plan, that could be less of an issue...

Yeah, sadly, I didn't opt for the family option since I'm the only person that plays but was wondering if it would even be possible with the same account to begin with or if this could cause problems down the line.

As far as I know you need 2 switches.
I specified in my post that I own 2 switches.
The question is about 2 Nintendo accounts.

Nope, you don't. I would recommend that you do, though!
When New Horizons first came out, I purchased it digitally for my switch lite. My brother wanted to see if he could play it, so he logged into my account from his switch, downloaded the game, and it let him make a new island/island representative. He ended up not going through with it and just waiting until he bought the game himself so he could play on his profile.
But like Mick said, if they implement a backup feature, it could cause a bit of trouble.
