Oh my god what happened :'(

Its new years in my town and my 3DS set my animal crossing 4 YEARS BACKWARDS INTO 2012 AND EVERYONE IS GONE AND IM IN LITERAL TEARS.... what happened.... I am a time traveler but what made it do that.. Like it should be January 1, 2017 in my game and its not, its January 1, 2012..

Close the 3DS without saving. Start up animal crossing and move to the current date. Also check if you changed your 3DS date or time.

When I time travel, I change the date using 3DS settings, but I NEVER change the year. Ever.

Oh god I'm so sorry! If you didn't change the year then I don't know how could have this happened... I hope everything returns to normal soon!

If the year on the 3DS is not changed and you weren't changing the in game date before then it is clearly a bug, if the 3DS year is changed then you must have done it by accident sorry.

I changed it to real life time and I lost another dreamie...but that's okay..guess I can replace them all. Nat will understand, I know he will.

2011. And then the game date was 2012, and I just TT'd through Isabelle to get to real life time

You must have accidentally changed the 3DS date then sorry.
Another reason might be if you turned the 3DS off at a bad time and files were corrupted and it had to do a system restore which most likely it would tell you about.

I'm so sorry that happened that's really bizarre. I time travel a lot by changing the in game clock but I keep the ds clock to the actual date and never alter it. Like you, I never touch the year. Makes you me think twice about being more careful I hope you can get your dreamies back. If you need any help with that just feel free to pm/vm me
