You could probably join the mini mafia! Most people playing are generally kind and as a townie nearly every game I'll be leading other townies to what they should be doing.

Either way you can be kind to new players even if you're mafia, there's no reason not to. I find that it's usually the townies that get nasty with newer players anyways.
