Well this topic is really interesting while preparing my things for retreat I heard a news about this
News here: http://edition.cnn.com/2015/02/11/politics/isis-aumf-white-house-congress/

I really dunno what is it all about might as well search later this topic is getting interesting but scary because we have nothing to do with this I dunno what isis want from us and it is difficult to settle this I hope they will do something.

Same mistake like in the past... World War 3 next?

we have nothing to do with this

Yes, the creation of a power vacuum in much of Iraq has nothing to do with us whatsoever.

How will this lead to world war 3? There is not a single actual state on the side of the Islamic State. They no doubt have some wealthy financiers and a lot of stolen assets, but explain to me how we go from air strikes on a terrorist organization to a total war between most of the industrial world?

I don' t think you quite grasp the definition of a "world war".

But yeah, even though I'm not American, I'm all for the elimination of the ISIS. It's just a tragedy that yet another war will be birthed in the middle-east.

Obama is a drama llama. I don't think there'll be a war, just cut off their heads and see how they like it

This wont be the start of the next world war. Everyone wants to see an end to ISIS and other terrorist organizations. So I do agree with this. ISIS needs to be put to an end before they can cause more harm to the world.

I'm curious on how a majority of republicans will take this. Specifically people like my grandparents who are extreme republicans and believe everything that Obama does is wrong and that he only looks out for the "Islamic" religion. I wonder what kind of cockamamie excuse they'll come up with this time to demonize Obama.

As long as there is religion, specifically religious extremists, then there will always be war in that section of the world.

Precisely. I'm an atheist and since I've erased religion from my life it's become so clean and pure. I'm against all religions, especially ones that require you to spend the majority of your life on your knees worshipping this apparent "almighty" presence above.

Same here. Ever since I got rid of religion in my life, I have noticed a huge amount of weight was lifted from my shoulders. I'm not held back by the idea of "Hey, if I do this then I'm going to ask for forgiveness and if I don't then it's one step closer to going to hell." It's not only that, but I just don't see any logic behind believing in a higher being especially since no evidence has came forward to support such a being.

Anyway, lets get off this topic and back to the one at hand.

u realise not much will change as a result of this

obama has been bombing da'ish thx to the provisions of AUMFs given to bush back in 2001 and 2002 (ie. for his invasion of afghanistan and iraq). this latest action is simply "refreshing" his authorisation for military action

i just want something 2 destroy the world so my the-last-of-us/post apocalyptic fantasies can become reality

help make it happen

^This^

They should just nuke everything and hopefully I miraculously survive and live as a badass lone wanderer killing mutants and bringing bandits to justice.

......Or I would cry in a corner waiting for the bandits to turn up.

I think the US needs to fix its own problems before trying to help anyone else. Otherwise it's just the blind leading the blind. The US is just trying to force it's own beliefs, thinking that their beliefs are right, on other people, which is hypocritical.

"Oh you are going to have freedom, but you are going to do it our way!" is what I think whenever the US tries to engage in foreign conflicts. The Cold War? It's just Soviets trying to fix the economy after WWII through communism. "You aren't doing it right! We are shutting you down!" -US

I don't have anything against the US, but it just seems very one sided.

There was a lot more to the Cold War than just that you know.

Exactly, a lot of the issues the world faces now are remnants of the Cold War. ISIS, Al Qaeda, and the Taliban are organizations that stemmed from the conflicts in the Cold War.

If anything right now, it's not so much of the US butting their heads in where it doesn't belong. It's where they're trying to fix the issues that spawned from the Cold War. As you know, the US was a major player in the Cold War

there is never gonna be a world war 3, the only reason world war 2 was called that because world war 1 was a cause of world war 2 (treaty of versailles)
