three in two of my towns, only one (yet) in my newest town. i like to be able to plot reset etc which is why i havent built a 4th house in any of my towns
Anyway, I have four characters: James Slave #1 Slave #2 Slave #3 Oh noes. Gender inequality!
My main character/mayor is the one I use most, naturally, and the other three are just there for storing designs, having extra houses & rooms to design and adding the extra challenge of collecting stuff like badges on multiple characters. Plus, their names, TownPass photos, lack of footwear and clustered houses probably freak out the few Dream Suite visitors I've had.
I have all four characters. I'm getting close to having every gold badge on my mayor, and it'll be nice to still be able to earn badges on my other characters Plus it's nice to have more than one house to decorate. It's also nice to have different looking characters to create different looks for.
I only have my mayor. I don't like having more characters because I'd feel bad since I'd end up using them as storage; besides, they take up space to build PWP's. What I do miss is space to create my own designs, though.
Main and newest town have 3 players. Guest and beautiful town have 4 players.
All the houses are full decorated. Each side player had a job to do once the mayor got all the bugs for the museum.
2nd player was the island girl and 3rd player was the runner to drop items in my other towns. All the extras hold QR dresses.
All players have the golden fishing rod and 11 have the golden net.
The mayor just needs the gold streetpass badge so I let the extra players as real players. Find it's more relaxing with no mayor stress. They can play with the villagers or just go to the island. Along the way my 2 side players have collected most of their badges. I'm now working on the guest town 2nd players badges.
I have all four characters. To be honest I really don't play with them.
I've created them to decorate their houses to a special theme e.g. my second character has a hotel.
Besides I use them for pattern slots which is necessary for my town since my town has a lot of patterns. Seriously, there are a lot of them.
I only keep one villager. I know it may be more useful to have more than one, but for some reason I just don't like doing 2+ villagers. Maybe it's because I feel like I already do so much work on my one villager lol
I only have 2, and the ONLY reason I have the second one is because I was doing the whole decide-what-villager-moves-in trick, and I had to move in to keep the one I liked. I am probably gonna get rid of him today now that I am reminded of it.
I had two but i just didn't like having to go on and off to both so I deleted my second character. I am a single human in my game and I like having that power
Played since game release & have several towns. My early towns have 4 characters - & hence I can't plot reset for an incoming villager - so currently these 2 towns have 10 villagers & I stop movers - not particularly happy with this, I either let a new villager plot where they like or delete a human character first. Think I'll go with the latter.
My new town, I kept it to 3 human characters, 9 villagers, looking for a favourite for my 10th, who I can control where he/she moves to. Happier with this arrangement.
Edit: not able to vote.
I like that a lot of people are doing some creative stuff with their other characters. I guess I assumed a lot of people did more than one character, so I'm surprised that a lot of people just have one. I think I want to have a themed second character... plus I need the storage. And when my hubby makes a character eventually, I might use some of his space for storage, too. Haha.
One is my mayor and my two side characters just hold patterns and help me with a possible villager trying to move on me.
It's a total pain using my mayor character to find the mover..ugh
I'm going to have to go with 4. I'd always been a 3-resident kind of girl, haha! I always wanted to leave one spot open for plot resetting. But some things changed that...
The "Unintended" 4th Character
When I was making Goblin, I discovered that I couldn't build as many signboards as I needed to. This left me 8 patterns short. A friend at work asked me, "Does Jareth have a sidekick? Can you just make another character?" And I said, "Well, kinda. There's Hoggle, but I don't know how to make him look like--WAIT A MINUTE, I do!" So I did, and Hoggle was born. I was going to delete him after publishing Goblin's DA, but now he's kind of my favorite.
The "Obligatory" 4th Character
My American Horror Story-themed town of AHS is based on the first four seasons of the show, so I sort of had to have four characters! (Fiona, Violet, Lana, and Pepper--who was in seasons 2 and 4)
The "I Just Decided Today I Can't Live Without Them" 4th Character
My main town of Ruddyoak is Lord of the Rings themed, though more loosely themed than my other towns. (The town and mayor are named after characters in an old LoTR computer game.) I've been severely neglecting it to work on Goblin and AHS, so I am nowhere near completing Ruddyoak.
But today it hit me that there is one more awesome LoTR character I need in my town! Now I'm going to make Ruddyoak even more strongly LoTR-themed. I'm really excited to add him, and now I'll have incentive to finish the town and get a DA up!
My main town has 3. I play with the extra characters every now and then, and have their houses decorated even though they're not fully expanded. Mostly they're there to hold my path patterns.
In La Lune and Longborn, I use less patterns so I only have 2 characters. I had plans for a 3rd character in La Lune, but never built their house.
Meryton is still new to me, so I've just got my mayor there. I have a path down right now, but I'm thinking of taking it up once I get it marked out with enough trees and bushes. I've never used a natural path before, so this is a challenge for me.
I have 3 because I neede mor space for furniture and specially designs. Also because I like to put furniture that I like it in their house and I don't have more space in mine.
