Now what have I done? Bizarre TT incident!

Ok so I swear TTing has been going so wrong for me!

I've got a second copy of the game and am TTing out the villagers for people. Last night Beardo pinged me to leave, he told me he was leaving on the 5th. Tonight I went to TT to his box day, I wanted to go to the 2nd so that I can keep up to date with the town. I mucked up and have TT to the 2nd of April! I didn't save and immediately went back to the 30th, the day Beardo pinged, as a new character and he is gone!

Any ideas where I need to TT to to get him back? I'm panicking like mad as I promised him to someone and feel awful right now!

Not sure you can get him back now. Once you load up as an existing character the game saves in the beginning. Maybe they can get him from the void?

Eek that's what I thought but why did he go when going back however far is only one day?

I've TTd to the first of April and boom there he is! WTF??!! He is just wandering around without a care in the world! Shouldn't he be in boxes on the first if he is gone on the second?

Help! I've no idea what to do now!

You TT'd to 4/2 and then from there to 4/30 and Beardo was gone, but then you went forward again to 5/1 and he's back? That doesn't make sense. Did you load a character and enter the game on all three days?

No I TTd to the first of April! He is back, I'm a new character and he isn't in his house. I thought he would be in boxes! Do I save as the new character and the go in as mayor? Will he be in boxes then do you think? So confused right now!!

If he said he's leaving on the 2nd, then he's in boxes on the 2nd

No he said he was leaving on the 5th of May. I went to TT to the 2nd, just to check over my town etc but accidentally went to 2nd April!

As someone who did the same thing with Beau, I'll share what I discovered: When you TT back, it still counts as one day. So if you TT'd backwards to his moving day, technically, the game counts it as one day AFTER moving day. So he'd be gone.

Oh poo. I loaded as my mayor, Beardo is there still but he isn't in boxes. It's April fools day so it's an event! Grrrr! Talk about making it even more confusing! Will he be in boxes on the 2nd, even though before he wasn't? How can he vanish without boxes? Argh stupid game!

Ok what I have done is spoke to Beardo loads and he brought up moving. I've told him to stay instead. Now I know he won't go anywhere and I can TT again to get him to move once more! Crazy!

Try going forward a few more days. That should get him in boxes.

What happened is that when you went to April 2nd, one day in the game passed. The game treats all TTing backwards as one day, no matter how much is actually traveled. When you skipped all the way to the end of April, however, that is treated as however many days is TTed (because time is moving forward), so Beardo moved out because it has been ~29 days.

I believe that if you went to April 1st, that's counted as another day, so that should be two days out of his five that will take him to boxes. So just go forward a few more days, (load on a new character if you wish to be certain), and things will be fine.

Edit: Oh, well. It looks like you told him to stay. Well, I explained what happened. Now that you know the mechanics of time travel, be more careful next time.

Yea I knew what I had done wrong it was just then I got muddled with how many days in his moving five had passed! Thought it best to play it safe,get him to stay and start the process of moving him out again!
